The rooms are nicely furnished with fridge, microwave, coffee maker, dish washer, stove and a wood burning fireplace. lovely indoor and outdoor hot tubs, saunas were closed due to covid which was disappointing. The building could use a upgrade, looking a bit dated, but would definitely recommend for a family getaway, very family oriented with two indoors waterslide, love the pool table, they also have a skeck art booth which was out of ink when we visited, also very disappointing. Indoor swimming pool was also out of commission. Has all the amenities to be a 4 star resort if they can get everything operational.

Staying on Tunnel mountain is a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of downtown Banff. And it’s still just a short drive (5 minutes) to the centre. The resort is old - I don’t think it’s been updated since the 70’s or 80’s. That being said, it has a kitschy charm. Just don’t expect modern. The window locks were broken and there was no double lock on the front door. For that reason alone, I wouldn’t recommend it for families with young kids or toddlers. The pool and rec centre are currently closed. Only the hot tub is open. Laundry is also permanently closed so keep that in mind. Liked the location but would probably book another Tunnel Mountain property for our next visit to Banff.

Our Family stays at the Douglas Fir a few times a year for the last 20 years. Always an Excellent trip, the kids since the where little to teenagers have enjoyed the water slide and when they where very small they spent a lot of time in the play park. Right at the start of Hoodoo trails makes for a nice family hike even for little ones. Always wild life . Always clean. Recent outside Hot Tub made enjoying Banff while kids are water sliding is a huge bonus. don't think about it , just book it. you will not be disappointed.

My kids (8 and 10) had an absolutely blast at the pool. Waterslides were endless fun. Great location with easy access to ski hills (especially Sunshine). Rooms were great spacious and kitchen was well stocked. I always forget the oil, salt and pepper, though!!

Stayed here a couple weekends ago. The facility wasn't bad, actually a lovely stay. However, being honest with my experience, I was shocked how little care the staff displayed. My girlfriend and I had an incident with the fire place, where hotel personnel failed to include a user guide sign in our room, resulting in the smoke rolling back inside the room after some time of having the fire going, and us needing to "evacuate" and switch rooms at 11pm. No empathy for inconvenience, no genuine care for our safety or health. The main priority was very clearly just to brush us off while offering as little compensation as possible. The desk supervisor even mentioned that this "fire place - and smoke coming back inside the room" issue keeps reoccurring. No care for their brand or customer loyalty. When I mentioned I'd prefer not to leave a negative review, but might have to after seeing their lack of helpfulness, the desk supervisor responded "that's my prerogative". I understand mistakes can happen, but there's different ways for a business to go about dealing with the aftermath. Very disappointing problem resolution. This was a huge let down, and I will not be giving this facility my business again!

This little resort was a wonderful place to spend a few days! The price was right, and the resort reflected that. The rooms and cabins were a little dated, however it didn’t make a difference with what we were there for. I do with their kid center was open, there’s truly no reason for it not to be, unless they’re unable to employ enough people to manage it. Decent little place, we may be back, it will depend on the kids play center being open or not!

Although a little dated, our chalet was clean and lovely. We forgot our pack and play and were provided one really quickly which was a lovely bonus. My biggest issue is that there is no way to lock the door from the inside to prevent small kids from escaping. A lack of a chain lock is a major safety hazard because there was no way to prevent my young kids from wandering out at night, so we ended up just keeping them all in bed with us - a much less restful trip than planned but I also always sleep better knowing my kids are safe!

Amazing place! Visited a couple of times a few years ago and had a great experience. The water slides were incredible, a great indoor playground, and breakfast food and free bus passes were provided. The staff were really helpful! It was a bit of a walk from the main town, but the walk had great views and there was a bus stop outside if we didn't feel like walking. Would definitely visit again!
