I keep using Uhaul thinking it will get better and it just doesn’t. They advertise as being so flexible blah blah blah but when asked for a change to reservation they say it’s not possible because someone else has the truck reserved. However if I go on the uhaul website and try and book the same truck for the day I return mine, it says it’s available and I can do that. Therefore, I should be able to change my reservation. Also heads up to anyone on a ferry - the feet of the truck is NOT the entire vehicle, just the box space. Turned into a very expensive move.

In the process of moving from Vancouver to Victoria, I used U-Haul's 1 month free storage option. I stored my belongings there for 3 weeks, and removed everything out by the 21st of February. After several weeks, I started receiving weekly invoices for a storage locker that I wasn't using. I sent numerous emails and left several voicemails, with no personalized response from management. After weeks of harrassment, they tried to charge me over $600 for a storage locker I was not using. It's shocking how incompetent these people are. The issue has since been resolved because I filed a coorporate complaint. The manager Dhiraj is completely incompetent. I recommend avoiding him at all costs.

Had a problem with Topaz location and couldn't get the truck I reserved. I was screwed big time. My Dad died and I had to move his belongings out of the Alzheimer's home. I didn't need any more heartache. But I contacted the old Island highway location and they couldn't have been more helpful. They had me going in less than a half hour. They saved the day for me. Thank you so much.

Reserved a 20' truck a month before our move. The day of our move they called us 15 minutes before our pick up time to tell us the truck wouldn't be available until 6.5 hours after our 9am reserved pick up time. They told us we could rent a 10' truck, but would need to pick it up in Langford. Due to time constraints we had no choice but to rent the 10' truck. Needless to say this was a huge inconvenience with the added trips due to a further pick up location and smaller truck. I would have expected U-Haul to comp the rental, but they only offered a half hearted sorry and discounted mileage. Never using U-Haul again or recommending them to anyone.

When I went to rent a UBox a month ago they couldn't even find the link to register it so I stood waiting for 30 minutes as this man struggled to figure it out. When I came back a month later to remove my stuff, they had not even pulled it out of storage yet despite me giving 48 hour notice to the pickup. I tried to get in contact with the location but their phone lines are routed to their call centre in the US which cannot help with reservation issues and told me to call the location directly which is the number I called. They also charged me for fuel when I returned my van with the same fuel amount. When I did get my UBox, some of the stuff had been shaken around so much they had collapsed. I would not use this location. When I was there I heard them telling another customer that the van they had reserved was not available and that they had to drive to Parksville. Don't go here.

Reserved a trailer and was told it was "guaranteed." Did the online check-in the day before I was to pick it up and paid the full price. Got a phone call a few hours before my scheduled pick-up and was told that the equipment wasn't available. I'll be losing money on a ferry reservation and all U-Haul can do is shrug their shoulders. Not reliable at all.

Do online reservation than walk in rentals. Do payments with credit card. If it's a credit card you don't have to wait in the line when you return the truck for getting refunds or pay any extra charges. For renting a cargo van and pickup truck they take only credit card. One main thing to keep in mind is that this location only has two 15minutes customer parking spots and one handicap parking. There is parking space separately for customers who use storage. Overall I'm satisfied with the renting experience. I hope this info will help everyone. ✌️

The truck was good, but they hadn't marked many of the dents and told not to worry about it, that they would trust us... however they later tried to bill us for services we had already refused, so I suspect they would have taken they opportunity to bill us for even the slightest scratch (of the 3 points of damage they had already registered, 1 appeared to be surface scratches from a washing! So they definitely nit pick). They also have no parking at all for customers that are using the vehicle for a quick load, meaning that you have to find a parking space elsewhere and walk back. The staff are pleasant to talk to, and the truck was in excellent condition (the dolly was almost useless though as the wheels were seized, our fault for not checking first).
