Current & Overdue Fines

If you have received a ticket and the due date has not yet passed, there are a few options for payment

  1. At a provincial court house
  2. At a registry office (a registry fee will apply). If you choose to pay at a registry office, you must bring the ticket with you.
  3. On-line

All of these options and details for payment will be listed on your ticket.

If the due date has passed the fine will be transferred to the Motor Vehicles database.  Once this happens any motor vehicle services would be restricted until payment of the outstanding fine is made. A late penalty will also be applied.

Busy and the wait times can be long but the staff are friendly, helpful and professional.

Total Disregard for CANADIANS CONSTATUTION OF FREEDOMS AND RIGHTS. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS REGISTRY AND WILL PASS THE WORD ONTO EVERYONE I KNOW. Been going there for 30 years. That's the service you get for loyalty!

This place is always a terrible experience. This last experience will be my last there. I’d rather drive into Calgary and go to a registration office there. Every time I have gone here the staff are rude and unwelcoming. I understand this is a business, but come on. There is always a line up which is so confusing as I wait expecting other customers to leave, I get inside and there is nobody. Only one person is ever working there, everyone else just sits there. Very lazy. They all look so unhappy and grouchy. The staff moral there must be terrible. I could not even ask them a simple question without getting a disrespectful and condescending answer. Zero customer service skills.

A horrible experience, my son went to get his learners permit, we were required to bring a passport and a birth certificate, he had his school ID with a picture, his Alberta health card his father with his license, What deeply offended the both what is the fact that the clerk question whether not we were Canadian. When I find insulting and or rude about this is who has the right to question whether or not you’re Canadian when is something like a drivers license, I am the fourth generation of my family, I was born in Calgary, and I have never once in my life been mistaken for anything but Canadian, I have to wonder how our new Canadians would feel about this sort of degrading behaviour

Possibly the WORST registry in Alberta. Asides from the sour grapes staff who work at this dump, they make sure to add an extra mile of red tape to make your paperwork as impossible as it can be, then they start charging for the extras needed. Also compare the prices and you'll notice its 10-15% more expensive at this registry than others. Please drive to Calgary for any registry needs and your day won't be ruined.

I honestly don't think I have had a positive experience using the Cochrane Registries. The hours are poor during the week for people who work mid shifts, the wait is too long for most people to use their lunch breaks and the weekend availability is practically non-existent. Even what should be simple tasks are a complete pain to get done in this location. The staff are always rude and getting a straight answer to a question is a battle, even when you get an answer its often incomplete, leading to additional stress when you need to acquire more documentation they didn't say they needed the first time around. Save yourself the trouble and go into Calgary.

I needed a new license plate and had tried AMA first but the line up was way too long so I abandoned that idea. I showed up at Cochrane registries shortly after they opened and was served right away. The person helping me (sorry I didn't get a name but lots of tattoos and short hair) was very friendly and quick. The car dealership had been specific about what paperwork to take with me so as a previous reviewer had stated, make sure you have everything required to have things run smoothly.

We moved from out of province 5 months ago and all of our dealings with this office have been efficient and productive. I can tell you that the only reason there are so many bad reviews is that people do not come prepared for their needed services, and take their self-inflicted bad experiences out on the company... Simple as that. Do your research and ask questions BEFORE showing up to the office and I promise you that your experience will be a good one.
