Less than 2 hours before my move in and my money gets transferred to the builder Mabbott & co called me and say I owe a extra $6,000 and to get it right away in order of a bank draft. They called me and they didn’t even know why I owed them the extra 6k until 20 min later. At first they were telling me the extra cost was due to upgrades, there was no upgrades. The reason I had to run around and wait in a bank for a hour to get a bank draft was they forgot to calculate GST.

Im also confident that we would not have gotten the money back that they were holding for us if I didnt call them. Through the whole process I maybe spoke to someone twice…. I would get farther in communication with my dead turtle

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The lack of communication was staggering, they recently handled my house title transfer and the lawyer was not receptive to getting anything done in a timely fashion (they started on my file beginning of October and it wasn’t all finished until middle of January!). I was told there would be $900 left over from my mortgage transfer only to be told that they misunderstood the email from the old mortgage company and I was actually $2200 short and had to pay before it could close. They still held $700 in trust, which they claimed they would send but I had to call back a month later and request a paper cheque I could physically pick up in person as they failed to send the money electronically and when I got the cheque there was a post-it note stuck to it saying additional courier fees - $86 so I got a cheque for $615, not $700 as discussed with no explanation or forewarning, that is a misunderstanding or miscalculation on their part that cost me approximately an extra $2500 also none of the paperwork got sent to me either, had to request another copy to pick up in person also. I constantly had to call and ask for anything to be done and all round it was an awful experience and I wouldn’t recommend anyone use this company for anything!
