PetSmart - Edmonton

Sad to see the kitties aren't there anymore but it's still a good store, there was a stock shortage a while ago but thats to be expected with Covid. Good customer service, they always ask for membership, which is good for me because I always forget. I only put 4 stars because the grooming services for cats are a bit of a mess - this was pre-covid, now I just do my cats claws at home because there were numerous times I had an appointment booked and the groomer would just leave beforehand.

Worst pet smart location in Edmonton, never stocked for small animals, only catering to cats and dogs. 4th time in last 2 months nothing on the shelves. Bring it up politely to the manager on the floor and was essentially greeted with Apathy "i don't care not my problem". Really question why I keep coming back thinking they got better lol.

I am so appalled by the conditions that PetSmart allows their animals to live in. I purchased a betta from this location earlier this week. He was thrashing around the cup pretty good on the way home, more so than what I have experienced when purchasing fish in the past (I am an experienced fish keeper). The type of rubbing against sides of the cup is a tell-tale sign that a fish is suffer from ammonia stress. I decided to test his water to see if my suspicions were true. Nothing could prepare me for these results. Within seconds the ammonia tests began to turn green and reached 4.ppm after it finished developing. Any level of ammonia is toxic to fish and levels above .5ppm are usually fatal. The nitrate levels were no better. Within seconds the water turned a deep orange. This picture was taken 2 minutes before the test had completely processed. It ended up reaching 80+ppm. Anything above 20ppm is toxic. I called the store to report my findings and express my concern. I ended up speaking with the acting supervisor as no manager was available. I was informed that they test the water bi-weekly and the water had been changed the day before. She disclosed that the test that was supposed to have take place last week was "forgotten" and never performed. The call ended with her stating that she will test the water IF she had time to do so that evening. I am confident this never took place. I am happy I could rescue this little guy, and although he is currently doing very well, I hope he will not suffer any long-term effects from the ammonia and nitrate poisoned water he had been forced to live in. You need to do better PetSmart. You are putting the lives of animals at risk for profit and there is nothing SMART about that!

The store is 97% dog/cat stuff, and 3% all other animal stuff. There are other places in town that are better, if you don’t have a cat/dog.

I had a bought and engraved tag for my dog here a few days ago. I had some trouble getting done but a staff member came to help and was done in no time.

I am a dog lover so I love PetSmart. Lots of everything for pets of all kinds. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.

So, I would give 0 stars if I could. Customer service on March 11th 2022 at 8:54pm was non existent. I walked in close to closing and was immediately stared at in an unfriendly manor and met by the words “we close right away” from the young girl on staff. I said yes I am aware thank you, and her nor the older woman offered to help me with my purchase or said anything else, which I found really unpleasant. I kid you not as soon as the clock hit 8:59 not even 9pm.... the young girl comes around the corner in an aggressive/ entertained manor and says “you need to leave the store it’s 9” to which I looked at my phone and said “it is 8:59, but I will gladly take my purchase elsewhere” What a joke, I get that I was last minute shopping but the manor of service and how rude I was treated was uncalled for and extremely unprofessional. Id rather pay a few more dollars elsewhere to be met with a smile and common courtesy by staff. I will be returning to my other store which is not a pet smart LOL

Fabulous store and awesome staff. Found everything for a teething pup. My 2 year old grandson was flirting and received some stickers. Great visit.
