About Hairstyle Inn, The Centre Mall

We believe strongly in being part of, and giving back to our community in which we live and work. So 10 years ago we started something special. Every child has an amazing story; some that can make you smile & others that bring your heart to tears… We are extremely proud of these children’s stories. Our program is called TLC at Home (Touching Lives of Children at Home) and is now in its 10th year.

TLC@Home provides a shoebox gift for children at several participating city schools in Saskatoon. We started with a few classes in one school and have continued to grow the number of children we reach each year. In 2014, with the help of our community partners, Global TV, Cameco, Cruz FM, Hairstyle Inn Salon & people like you and me, we have reached 5 schools with personal gift boxes for over 850 children. We are ecstatic to be a part of such an amazing team of passionate and generous people! Our goal is to reach every child in each of the community city schools in Saskatoon. What a difference our world can be… touching the lives of children.

I have been coming to Hairstyle in since 2015. My stylist Leslie is amazing! I won’t go to anyone but her. Our entire family goes there and to Leslie-nothing but excellence from her!

I have been coming to see Leslie at the Hairstyle Inn for many years to get my hair done. She is so talented and my hair always looks amazing when I leave! The salon is always clean, the staff is always friendly and I never worried about anything when I started coming back after Covid hit. The protocols that have been in place put me at ease when returning. Well done!!

Took my kids (1&a half and 4) to see Helena and I was not impressed. She didn’t even say hi to us and just walked away expecting us to follow to her chair. My 4 year old was nervous and Helena said nothing to her the entire time and at the end of the haircut just put her hair back in a ponytail instead of styling it a bit or making her feel special about the experience. With my one and a half year old the first thing she said was β€œif she can’t sit still it’s a safety issue and we can’t do it” offered zero suggestions and was just miserable the entire time. I can understand we all have bad days and moody days, but when you work in hair you have to be social (and excited with kids- they are nervous) It was sad that my kids didn’t get a fun experience and that my babies first haircut wasn’t an experience that parents hope for. Helena was only friendly at the end and I’m sure it was a last effort for a good tip. So unimpressed and disappointed, do better with kids or offer your hairstylists some training to work with kids.

I've been going to Hairstyle Inn for 16 years, but after my cut and colour this week I am left $250 poorer and looking for a new stylist elsewhere to give me the look I asked for. I've had excellent experiences with some of the stylists at HI in the past, but it seems like when I call and ask for the stylist I had previously they say she has since moved on (granted I only go every 12-18months). Whoever I saw on Saturday let me know that they have been short staffed, which makes me wonder why the stylists I had seen before had left. When Micki gave me a balayage in 2020 she spent 5 hours making sure my colour was just right. Whoever I saw on Saturday spent less than 3, and as a result I left with darker than when I went in there with, and without the layers I asked for. I know you should "tell them you're not happy with it while you're in the chair," but I felt like I was inconveniencing this stylist, especially since she complained about how long another client's service was taking. Balayage is expensive, but worth it because it grows out so beautifully I don't need to get it done again for a year or more. It's not easy for me to justify spending that money on myself. I feel sick about spending another $300 on my hair this month, but I hate what I left HI with so I guess that's where we're at.
