Jason Chau, MD

Dr. Chau is a Royal College certified Otolaryngologist – Head & Neck Surgeon with advanced fellowship training in both Sleep Apnea Surgery and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is the Surgical Director of Canadian Sleep Consultants. After completing his Sleep Surgery Fellowship at Stanford University, he was recruited at the University of Manitoba to assist in pioneering the multi – disciplinary Sleep Disorders Clinic, the first of it’s kind in Canada. Dr. Chau has relocated to Calgary having been recruited by the University of Calgary Section of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery to continue his work and to assist in the development of the Canadian Sleep Surgery Clinic. He will be working in collaboration with our clinic to provide surgical consultation and management of sleep-related breathing disorders and will also be accepting consultation request for general otolaryngology and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Was advised I "probably" have sleep apnea and to proceed with in-lab testing and was given the option of using their lab for $1000 or Foothills for free, albeit with a 6 month to 1 year wait time. I opted to wait, and was told they would put my referral through. Followed up 9 months later, not only do they not have a record of my second visit, but also never put in the referral. Thanks guys, you at least could have advised me to handle the referral through my GP if you had no intention of following through. Complete and utter waste of time.

Dr. Alonso and the sleep techs have been very helpful and I am happy to say that my sleep has greatly improved and it's much easier to wake up in the morning. No more feeling sleepy in the afternoon :-) Initially, CPAP was hard but I got used to the therapy with the help of everyone at the clinic. They are definitely experts in their field.
