M	Michael Brown on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Over the years my family has built over 40 bears. The kids are always excited to go, even just to look. The staff are always friendly, helpful and willing to take their time with each of the kids during the heart ceremony. The bears are kind of pricy, so we usually shop during sales or grab bogo deals. Quality-wise, I have bears from 10 years ago with the normal wear and tear, normally popping the seam where the bear is sewn up. Staff is always happy to help stitch those back up and even talk the kids through it. We’ve made so many bears, but my favourite still has to be the one with a recording of my daughter’s baby laugh. Keep up the great work!

I was helped with excitement and pleasant!!! I would recommend any age this is a great place to buy something special or sentimental !!! Thank you for making this gift special
T	Terra T on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I brought my daughter and her friend for her birthday to the Build a Bear in Chinook and was disgusted by one employee in particular, Christine I believe her name was, a blonde. She asked my daughter's friend if she liked how much stuffing was in the bear and when she replied that it was too firm Christine scoffed at her and rolled her eyes in disbelief like she was completely offended, I was shocked! This is your job, these are kids, if you don't want to work here find another job. Then the bear my daughter had the other employee indicated to Christine there was a hole in it and the stitching had come out. No one said anything to me, I just happened to over hear it, I stood by and watched to see how they would handle it, they didn't. Christine just tried to sew up the back with a needle and thread and then sewed up the foot with the hole, so there was a big stitching lump, instead of asking me if we wanted another instead! These aren't cheap, I didn't pay for this. I am so disgusted with this behaviour we would never come back here. I think Christine realized, even though I said nothing, that she had behaved poorly and offered my daughter a cupcake for her birthday but really that's too little too late. She obviously knows she was an example of terrible customer service. Thanks for the birthday memories.
I	Izzy Angel-King on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a late review. I went around the beginning of January to fill the Stegosaurus I had bought online and clothe him. The staff were friendly and helpful and I was happy with how much he was stuffed. I would give five stars if it weren't for the fact that multiple adult customers, not children, were not wearing their masks correctly and no one corrected them, so that takes 2 stars off for me. The store was also very crowded and there were no social distance regulation happening at all. A little disappointing but I did get what I needed.

They made my daughter 6th birthday very special for her as well as building the bear for her. Even sang her happy birthday before we left. She loved so much and couldn't stop talking about it the whole way home.

I was visiting from out of town and they were able to help me with my purchase and stamped my build-a-bear passport I have. For some reason, the store inside is very warm as if the heaters are on in the middle of summer, but don't let that ruin your shopping experience here.

However, while we were going through our process another mom came to complain that an employee had criticized her son on the autism spectrum for running into the store without a mask. The boy had a mask exemption and was apparently also non-verbal. The staff member did not deny this accusation and actually doubled down stating that "all children with autism can wear a mask, my autistic child wears a mask themselves and it's just parenting". This is not accurate, and no one has the right to criticize a parent without knowing the full story or situation. There are many children who simply cannot tolerate masks, which is why exemptions exist. The mom did not yell, but was clearly upset by the reaction of this employee. I realize that COVID rules may be set by the corporate leaders and staff have to follow rules. However, common sense and compassion should always apply. The employee we dealt with was wonderful, and we personally had a positive experience. But this left a bad taste in all of our mouths. As an edit: I did call the store to ensure that our interpretation of the events were passed along. She was extremely kind, thoughtful, and was absolutely clear that this was not an acceptable response by the employee. I hope the mom and child give the store a call and return, her little boy deserves an opportunity to create his bear.
