Cant wait to see it

I’ve been looking for a new family physician and was excited that a new clinic was opening in our neighbourhood. I reached out to the receptionist at the Lakeshore / Long Branch Medi Collective clinic asking to have a meet and greet with one of the new physicians moving to the Lakeshore / Long Branch location. The meet and greet was scheduled with Dr. Kevin Ho. During this call I asked a couple of basic questions (ie, what is your style of practicing medicine / how do you collaborate with your patients / are there any questions you think I should be asking you). Following the call I did some more research on Dr. Ho and came across his Rate MD page; there were a lot of negative reviews and the traits these other patients mentioned I also noticed during our phone call. I called the Medi Collective back saying that I do not think Dr. Ho and I were the right fit and that I would like to have a meet and greet with the other physician moving to the Long Branch / Lakeshore location - Dr. Seth. My appointment was scheduled for 5:30pm the next week. After not hearing from Dr. Seth by 6pm I called the clinic and asked if everything was okay - if he was running late it’s no problem, I just wanted to be aware. At 6:45pm I got a call back saying that Dr. Seth would not speak with me because he had spoken with Dr. Ho who “did not appreciate” my asking questions during our meet and greet because it “took away from patient care”. She explained that because of this Dr. Seth was cancelling my appointment (75 minutes after the scheduled time) and said that if I would like a meet and greet I would have to pay out of pocket for that appointment. Asking a couple of basic questions during a meet and greet with a physician is essential to ensure there is a physician-patient fit. If you do not wish to setup meet and greets where the patient asks basic questions than please do not offer these sorts of appointments. And please have some respect for your patients - don’t tell me 75 minutes after my scheduled appointment that the physician will not see me. UPDATE: I spoke with the Lakeshore / Long Branch office manager, Christine. She offered a genuine apology and seems to care about improving their processes so that this doesn’t happen to other patients. This doesn’t quite provide insight as to why I was told Dr. Ho “does not appreciate” my asking questions during our meet and greet. I can only hope that this was just a miscommunication as opposed to how this physician actually feels. Overall, I think this clinic has a really nice manager in Christine who cares about her patients. Hopefully Dr. Seth and Dr. Ho do as well, but based on my experience I think that’s still in question. I’ve upgraded my review to 3 stars simply because Christine seems to genuinely care about improving things.

I just walked in asking if it was possible for an appointment and whoever was at the front desk was EXTREMELY RUDE!!!!! I have never felt so belittled ever in a doctors office. I just asked politely what my options were because my doctor is on maternity leave and all she did was was condescending tell me I should have got my blood work done before the doctor went on maternity leave. I felt ridiculed for not having the time for the past month to get my blood work done. She rudely said “THIS IS NOT URGENT” yes I understand and I was in NO WAY saying I needed it done now, I was just inquiring to see when would be a good time to go for blood work and come back for the results. Then when I asked if I could have a walk in appointment she told me I should have checked the website to see that they no longer do walk ins……Maybe put some more pleasant people up at your front desk who do not speak to adults as if they are children.
