Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina

My family and friends have stayed twice in their condo and we enjoyed crabbing in the marina. My friends wanted to book again as they wanted to experience crabbing but my co-worker that stayed before the pandemic said it is no longer allowed to do crabbing.

Great place. The townhouse was well organized and is very cozy. Check-in was convenient and easy. We went during Covid-19 and the outside hot tub were closed. It would have been good to know before the reservation was completed.

We originally booked the waterfront penthouse suite and another waterfront unit back at the start of 2021 (trip at the start of Aug) and took a deposit for the booking. Two weeks before the trip we called to find out something about the resort and the reservation lady told us she has been meaning to call us to inform us that the penthouse suite has been sold to someone else and it is no longer available for rent (which is currently up for sale and being rented for way more than we booked it for on Airbnb). With no other options for the group our size two weeks before we arrive, we had to take whatever they had to give us. We were not provided confirmations that our units were booked, they did not provide which units we had to look online, and we were told one of the units were to be vacated one day before our departure date so one unit finds another accommodations for one night or everyone has to go stay in the other units and sleep on pull out couches. We went from waterfront to two units having water views from further back and one unit not even having a view. On top of that they wanted us to pay more than or original booking because we now had more units now (which was not our fault). We heard from one of our fishing guides all the people staying here have been complaining about the management company running this resort and no one has been happy. The Office always seems to be closed and no one is ever there so you can’t go talk to anyone that has any authority. As for the rooms, they are run down (carpets need to be changed, walls are all marked up, sliding screen doors don’t slide, I could go on), no AC makes the top units to hot to get a good nights sleep or even sit in the living room later in the day and anyone sleeping in the bottom units can hear anything happening above like it is in our room. Not sure how they charge so much for these units, would definitely not stay here again, the management company is terrible to deal with, not organized, helpful or empathetic to a situation they could have handled so much better.

We spent three nights here recently in a suite with great water views from two different decks. The view was amazing, very peaceful and quiet too. The townhouse was comfortable but is very much showing it’s age. The carpets look like they need to be changed, the walls are all marked up and could use a paint job and we were afraid to close the blinds on the main floor as they looked like they were going to fall apart. Unlike other condo rentals we’ve done this had nothing in the way of anything but the bare basics for the kitchen, not even salt and pepper lol. A few of the most basic things like some cooking oil, a few spices and maybe some tinfoil would be a nice addition. Overall, we’d probably stay there again more so for the views than the amenities.

We’ve been staying here for the past 4 or 5 years over the thanksgiving weekend, and this year will be our last, the new company that has taken over management is terrible. We’ve tried reaching them numerous times by phone and email with no response. Our unit was only half cleaned when we got here, dishwasher full of dirty dishes, the couch was covered in crumbs and who knows what, half the dishes in the cupboards were dirty as well, not enough towels. They gave us the wrong code for the hot tub, and we’re on day three and they’ve still not responded to us. The location is fantastic, and we’ve really enjoyed staying here over the years, but it’s time to find a new spot.

Went with the family for a few days, the view was absolutely breathtaking, very peaceful and quiet too. Loved the townhouse felt very cozy and was very clean and well kept. A great place to stay and even better if you want to go fishing as the marina is a few steps away. Didn’t want to leave this place and definitely planning to go back.

We recently enjoyed a couple of nights here and found the apartments very cosy - very comfortable beds? We had some technology issues but found the resort staff were quick to respond. Had a great evening at Sooke Brewing Company, great beers and such great staff

We enjoyed our 4 day Christmas vacation with our two adult kids at Sooke Harbour Resort & Marina. The place was clean, comfortable and conveniently located close to the ocean and a few minutes drive from Sooke town centre. Everything was great and we'd book this place again. The pillows in our place were huge, so I'd recommend bringing your own for a comfortable sleep. Overall, 4. 5 stars.
