Lakeside hideaway is NOT and good place to rent at. Many people have had issues here with the landlords and the way that they conduct their business. Landlords fail to follow legal procedures and take advantage of tenants that don’t know they have rights. It is over priced and not as advertised. Many of the suites are small and unfinished and not properly constructed. I would avoid this place if you are looking to rent, the property can be nice but definitely not worth the view.

The owners husband would come to house without warning and just walk in without knocking. At one point as my if was getting dressed! ?. After getting settled we were informed "don't call, txt on the weekend because we are not available. When we informed them than the gas had run out for the gas stove, they told us they were not going into town for four days. When I asked how are we supposed to cook for my wife and kids she said...I guess you will be eating salads. ...

Landlord seems to be bipolar. One minute she loves you, the next she's evicting you and your 2 kids and immune compromised mother in law. All during covid, we paid rent in advance and in full. She even texted telling me that I was helping her with all her other tenants. When I moved in I was supposed to have a working dishwasher, microwave, furniture, fridge and water. First day, dishwasher did not work and was actually disconnected the fridge was full of mouldy food and covered in ice and was leaking. The couches smelt like dog urine and was broken. We helped her move all the furniture to other units, got our own dishwasher and installed it, to our own expense, and found a new fridge, went to pick it up and ended up popping a tire. $250 later we finally got the new fridge home and she had the audacity to make us drop off the old fridge. These landlords are "praise the lord" and they're also the first ones to kick you to the curb even after paying rent early, using your family as a reference point to rent other units, after you fixed up the house and the structure of the house for everyone else. Do not trust these phony people. They are slumloards and money hungry. All of their units are 100% unsafe and I have photos to prove it. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE. PEOPLE

Like other reviewers, we had issues with the landlords and their business practices, as well as their complete disregard for tenant rights and personal space. My partner and I rented from them for a 6 months, and dealt with an array of issues, including pre-existing mould and leaks; inability to access mail; failure to give proper notice for showings, and even showing up with NO notice. When you do laundry in the shared laundry facilities, the wash cycle cuts off the water supply for all of the tenants inside the house. A note was left by the landlady telling us to be “mindful” of the other tenants, though the landlords are clearly not mindful of how this setup implicates their tenants’ right to water. The cabins are 28 years old, and to the landlords this excuses all faults, including a sliding door as the only entryway that continually runs off track and gets stuck, and lacks a lock or even a way of affixing a lock. The landlords have a “maintenance list” where they say they write down the issues that you bring to their attention, but it took 5 months and as many requests to have a simple leaking kitchen faucet fixed (each time they told me they hadn’t known about it, despite our reminders that we had told them previously). This leak was creating mould that spread from under the kitchen cabinet to all adjoining cabinets (conveniently the only places to store food). The walls around the fridge and the bed, the toilet and walls around it are all mouldy. When our fridge stopped working, they brought by a new one, but it was mouldy, inside and out. When I messaged them saying how frustrating that was (given the overall state of mould in the cabin), I was told that I should be grateful to have a fridge so quickly. She also took that opportunity to note that our thermostat was set higher than she liked (electric heat was included in our rent, and while we tried to keep it off or set very low initially, we were told by the landlady’s husband, “the maintenance guy”, to keep the cabin warmer to tackle the condensation issues due to a leak under that shower, issues that they initially blamed on us “breathing too much”). If you ever have an issue, it will be turned back around onto you and the responsibility of dealing with it will be shunned off onto someone else or completely ignored. RATS. This is the place to rent if you love to fall asleep to rain on a tin roof and rats scurrying above the ceiling over the loft-style bed. They nest in the floorboards and ceiling, and fight in the walls. Apparently this is an island-wide issue, and they were attempting to tackle it with bars of soap and bay leaves, but the amount of rat poo that must be in the walls, paired with the mould, make the living conditions quite terrible. It is ghastly that they charged us $1540 for it, and listed it for rent for $1685 when we gave our notice. The landlords have strict M-F 10-4 business hours, unless, of course, it serves them to FaceTime you at 8:00am or just randomly show up at any time for any number of bizarre reasons. When we moved out, we waited until the 10th of the following month to remind them to send us our deposits back, and they did 4 days later on a Friday afternoon, short of $160 claiming a “damaged lamp”. The only lamp there during our stay was our own. Given the office hours and some other excuses, she didn't respond to our requests for the full amount to be sent back until the next Tuesday at 3:30, then claiming she had “forgotten” who broke the lamp and that there was pet hair left and she thought $30 would be fair compensation for wiping that. I couldn't respond until after 4:00, so she sent back what she thought was fair, neglecting her responsibility to return all but an *agreed upon* amount, twice. These people are in debt, and share that openly with their tenants. They are just using you to make a quick buck and scam you for whatever you don’t think is worth fighting for.
