This is no longer open as an Adoption site but is the Cambridge Animal Hospital and I LOVE THEM. Sage and Sound was great when it existed. We got our Daisy there.

I found that I was misguided through the entire process!!!! First visit to see dogs available, then choose dog for 2nd visit. I choose 2 to visit with to see there personalities. Before I went back I called to make sure that the 2 dogs I was interested in were not pending adoption by anyone. I was told they were available and the cost was 800 each. Went back the next weekend to visit with the dogs and 1 had been adopted. ?? Next the person in the room with the dog told me he cost 1000 not 800. Left to find out the next day if I could adopt him. They called to say that I didn't get the dog because there were thousands of applications. Again?? And they drew a name out of a hat. #Neveragain

Similar to a few of the other reviews posted here, my husband and I had a very disappointing experience with Safe and Sound Rescue Project.. We went through all the preliminary steps to adopti and then drove several hours to visit with a puppy that we were told was available. Because we don’t live in the Cambridge area (and therefore would not be using the vet services associated with this β€œrescue” centre) we were told that they would try and find the puppy a local home first, even if it meant the puppy would be left in the centre and not re-homed for several weeks. I assume this is because they are growing a client base through the rescue centre. We were also told that the adoption would cost 800 dollars plus the cost of neuter. This in my mind is the sale of a dog, not the process of adopting out rescues with the intent of simply giving them the best home possible. The whole experience was a bit gross to be honest, and left us with a really negative impression of the place. I would definitely not recommend.

Here are some things to ask yourself when you are considering this "rescue". Where are the dogs from? Why do they only have small breed dogs? Why don't they do home visits or have fosters to rehabilitate the dogs? Why is the fee so high compared to other rescues? Why are they asking you to bring the dog back to them for vet care? Why are they insisting on "selling" you a puppy care package? Why aren't they asking you questions about your home and living situation when you are at your initial visit to see the dog? Are they really a "rescue" or are they a pet shop flying under the radar? Just saying...

We adopted a rescue dog from this program, and we were so impressed with the care these animals receive from the wonderful staff. The ailments our poor girl had when she was rescued were addressed before we adopted her, and she came to us ready for her forever home. If you're looking for a rescue dog or cat, I can't recommend the Safe and Sound Rescue Project highly enough. If I could give more than five stars, I would.

My spouse and I adopted the love of our lives. He was well taken care of during his time at the rescue and is a very social guy. I would recommend the Safe and Sound project to everyone who wants to adopt as well as the Cambridge Animal Hospital. The adoption fee is fair as it covered his time there, all his shots as well as proper care and socialization skills by professional vets and technicians. I recommend their wellness program as well as it covers neutering, nail, hair and bum trims, tests, vet visits, and more. Keep up the good work!

We adopted our best friend from Safe and Sound Rescue Project. We failed to realize there was a process and just dropped by. The staff were always friendly and accommodating. The den area was a bit crowded for my liking but there is a β€œromper room” where you visit with the pets to see who might be a good fit, personality wise. Our guy was a two year old male breeder who was so apprehensive of strangers but showed care and concern for all the other doggies. I knew the minute I saw him that he was the one. And, since would have difficulty finding a forever home (there were marking behaviours and the aversion to people were potential concerns). He took a bit to warm up-esp. to my hub. But it is now almost 1 year since he came home and he truly is the Best. Dog. Ever. He is as sweet as we were told he is (by the staff); we trusted it to be true and we could not be happier.
