I have been a client for at least 25 years. Had my student loan through them back then. Never had a problem until 3 months ago. Twice they have withheld my funds for 5 days causing bill payments to go NSF. That is twice in 25 years I will be closing my accounts once those funds are realeased

Editing this review with more recent experience: Met with advisor, Alykhan, for credit to supplement our reno funds. He showed up for the meeting (which is more than some of his colleagues managed - see original review below), the meeting went well, and we were approved. Said we'd hear back from him in a week. Nothing. Followed up a month later. Nothing. Followed up at 2 months, and he finally replied that he moved to a different position (but of course didn't bother transitioning our portfolio). To quote the fellow: "Even though this is outside my current new role, I will do this for you and follow up with it". Well, that was more than a month ago now. Bottom line: if Alykhan is your advisor at the Baseline Rd RBC, you need to switch advisors (and probably banks) immediately. They're clearly not very organized. Original: I'm not going to sugar coat it. Customer service at this branch is pathetic. Twice in the last 2 weeks I've had appointments booked with advisors from the Sherwood Park branch, and in both cases the advisor never showed up for the appointment. This is completely unacceptable given I'm taking time away from my work and family to have these appointments. If you're considering RBC, do not use this branch (although really you ought to consider another bank altogether).

Get ready for wait times of half hour or more. Middle of the day (3:30pm) well before closing and there is a sole teller on hand to help about 9 people in line. 3 people already left after getting tired of waiting

I’ve been with them for over 20 years but I’m starting to take my business elsewhere. Over the last few years I’ve noticed them getting more and more nosey when I go in to deal with account stuff. Maybe they have to do their due diligence and ask the odd general question but the questions seem to be getting more and more invasive and I’m not okay with it.

They did everything possible to make things difficult, every call was a gamble wether they would just disconnect you after waiting on hold for 20+ minutes or transfer you to inactive numbers(at 7+ calls so far with zero results due to all this so far), sometimes email was allowed other times it was absolutely not allowable for documents depending who you got to talk to, lied about about timeline on settling up a mortgage just to incur additional charges to me. The people at the branch were polite to deal with but never did anytbing helpful. Never deal with RBC, go somewhere like Servus or ATB where they treat you decent. Update to my review They never did resolve my issue, ended up needing lawyers involved just to get the most basic requests done. How a place like this can be in business is ridiculous. Utter incompetence

Don’t get a credit card from RBC.been trying to get someone for two days. I tried activating new card online and I get an error message. So I call the number listed been on hold for almost an hour, the message saying high call volume and this was at 9am in the morning so I gave up tried calling the branch but the same thing happens gave up after 15 mins. I get better service at TD bank. All I want to do is activate my card. Will be going into the bank to see if i can do it that way, if not will be looking at getting a different credit card. Such a pain in the a** with this virtual help. I miss the old days when phoning a business and a real person answers.

RBC has been a horrible bank to deal with. Due to their incompetence I am unable to e-transfer money in the amounts I require. They changed the amount I could transfer without informing me. It takes forever to actually get to speak with someone from RBC because of their automated system and when you finally get through to someone, they don’t want to help because RBC doesn’t care about their customers. Absolutely horrible bank to deal with, do yourself a favour and stay away from them.

Deliberately avoiding helping transfer funds out of their bank. Completely unprofessional and not honoring their commitment. Pretty much in line with most other experiences noted. 0 stars would have been more akin to their the type of support they not provide, but 0 stars was not an option. Beyond disappointed. Corporate RBC should be concerned.
