About Medicentres Family Care Clinics

Over three decades ago, two Edmonton physicians had the vision to bring accessible health care to Albertans on a non-appointment, extended hour basis. Making that vision a reality, in 1979 they established Medicentres, which is now the largest group of medical clinics in Western Canada.

Medicentres continues to grow and evolve. We now have 30 walk-in clinics in 8 Canadian cities with over 300 employees including nurses, receptionists and associated health care personnel and almost 200 practicing physicians. Many of our walk-in clinics now include a variety of specialists who work in consult with our family physicians.

Our physicians care for patients in a traditional family practice through scheduled appointments, and on a walk in basis while also providing episodic care through our Fastrack Program. Designed to deal with minor injuries and medical issues, prescription refills and immunizations, the Fastrack Program provides you with the next available appointment.

Employers will find assistance for their workers through Occupational Injury Services, pre-employment physicals and drivers’ exams. We also provide Immigration physicals and a host of other uninsured services.

Each year, thousands of patients visit our clinics, and have come to depend on Medicentres to deliver quality health care for everyone.

My husband took our 2 year old with appointment to this place thinking he would get a relief for a pain on his arm. They waited for more than an hour to be sent for x-ray without even getting examined by the Dr. FYI we know what x-ray is "do you know what x-ray is?" what the Dr asked my husband. So rude, disrespectful and unprofessional!!!!!!!!!!!

AVOID THIS CLINIC. I took my son in to see Dr. A. Khan for a physical and fill out a form indicating whether my son is fit for anesthesia and dental surgery. My family doctor was unavailable in time for the surgery we had to rely on a walk-in clinic. I chose this one based on location nearest to me. Our visit was a total of 20 minutes from the time we walked into the clinic and left. The 5 minutes spent with the Dr, he did not say a single word to my son the whole time and he mumbled to me questions while filling out my form. Then he started pulling at my son's shirt to get in with his stethoscope to listen to my son's heart. He listened for about a minute before he quickly finished the form and mumbled "follow me", leading me back to the front desk to pay for my form. I left my things behind thinking that he was going to weigh and measure my son which we've done at every past physical. When I returned to the desk with our things in hand I was told that the charge for this kind of form was $100. When I expressed my outrage and said that the doctor didn't even do his job correctly they defended the doctors malpractice. The cherry on top is that after charging half my groceries for the next 2 weeks for 5 minutes of Dr Khan's time they did not even fax the form to the pediatric dentist office like the form directed. I understand that Alberta is currently squeezing the health system but Dr. Khan I ask you: Where was the care for my sons life when you passed on your job to the doctor's at the surgery clinic? I would not trust you with my life and that is inexcusable!

No walk ins, only apt. Would have been nice if that was posted on the website so people don't waste their time waiting

Dr.khan is not even a real doctor he shows up an hour after the appointment. He doesnt really care about patients. He doesnt do refferals.. today he told me "this is the last form im going to sign for you" in other words he means that he is sick and tired of his job. Avoids this place they are useless.

The place wasn't busy when I arrived the elderly receptionist with a long braid at the front was extremely rude to the poor lady in front of me and then with me. I asked her a question and she didn't look at me and was so rude when I said a mere "excuse me" just to see if she knew I was standing there to check in, she snapped and said "cant you see I'm in the middle of something"!. I waited in the dr office for an hour. Quiet Dr but much nicer then the lady working at the desk. Go elsewhere if you can. The receptionist ruined it for me. These are rough times but you shouldnt be made to feel worse then when you walked in. Never going back there again.

Other then having to wait which I’m fine doing, I absolutely love this place. The seating is a little dated(worn) but I usually don’t let little things like that bother me. The care I receive is good care. It is a very calm environment, and just remember other that go here respect is earned not giving, in my opinion
