Pros: -Clean Rooms -Ideal downtown Toronto location close to everything -Price Cons: -Rooms are connected to each other, paper thin doors, paper thin walls, absolutely noisy hotel -Check-in process was a nightmare for no reason at all -Poor customer service -Hidden policies that are the customer's problem, not the billion dollar company offering the service This is a clear example of the Marriott corporation striking a calculated balance between their ideal location, reasonable price, and not much else. I call it the "where the hell else are you going to stay?" effect. Booked the room on Hotels.com which Marriott doesn't want you to do ever. They want you to use their Bonvoy app (yeah, no thanks). So because we booked via a third party, we were subject to a $250 security deposit on the room. I was told that they absolutely do not take debit or prepaid credit to pay the deposit, but after I caught the concierge in a lie, he brought out the debit machine (magically they all of a sudden could take debit! wow!) I was able to pay the security deposit (this policy does not seem to be written anywhere, nor was it mentioned on Hotels.com, so just FYI). The room itself was very spacious, clean, and had everything you would expect in a modern hotel (we didn't use the gym or pool, so no opinions on those), however, our room was connected to a neighbouring room with young children. This is supposed to be something that they offer as a service, not as a default option. I would never request a room beside a noisy family. We could hear literally everything they said, what television show they were watching, and the father explaining to his youngest how to defecate in a grown-up toilet. Really makes you think what other guests could hear, and how loud you yourself are. We could also hear the upstairs guests. Checking-out was also extremely awkward. At no point would I say the customer service at the Downtown Marriott was even "okay". We had to ask for our receipts, we weren't asked how our stay was, we were not given an explanation as to why we were assigned an adjoining room with young children, and we were not offered any apology for the noise or hidden policies of the hotel. Booking and staying in a hotel is supposed to be a mindless process. You're supposed to enjoy staying in a different city, not be stressed out about the hotel aspect. I would not recommend the Downtown Toronto Marriott at CF Eaton Centre to anyone unless you don't mind the cons listed. My opinion is spend $50 more per night and you could stay at the Intercontinental or Royal York.

Really enjoyed my stay. Hotel is a great location. Walking distance to all the attractions and plenty of eateries. Room was very clean and ready well before check in. Loved the pillow spray left on the nightstand- it worked wonders. Very cozy bed. You will get great sleep.

Excellent service from check in to check out. Great location. Rooms are well appointed and clean. Quiet hotel so we could relax. It's also reasonably priced for being in the core of downtown. Loved that our rate included self park, which helps in downtown Toronto! Close to shopping, public transportation and restaurants. You cannot go wrong staying here. Will definitely go back.

I was in the office when my colleague called to book a room after a night shift and I overheard her conversation with the front desk. It was noon and she asked if she could book a room with an early check in. The receptionist said that she can’t do it over the phone and that she needs to walk in to check. Our office is literally next door to the Marriott and my colleague was simply inquiring if she could reserve a room immediately. She was again told that she needs to walk to the hotel to request an early check in. The receptionist then asked her for her last name and then said β€œI don’t see a reservation, did you book online?” My colleague again said that she just worked a night shift and has to work again tonight but would like to book now if they would allow an early check in. Once again she was told to walk over to ask the same question in person. Absolutely ridiculous

My family choose this hotel for a special long 6 week stay in the beginning when our Son was admitted into Sick Kids. We have always rebooked for short city stays. Our last stay was to celebrate his birthday, and they made very special arrangements to enable a very unique and special birthday. Thank you for the special Raptors gift ? The rooms are always king sized, with great comfortable beds and amenities that are comforting. Amazing parking rates, and location! What makes this place unique is a great friendly staff, with attention to details. Once again thank you for making our stay special, and you’ll definitely see us again!

Great location and friendly staff very close to the Eaton Center and walking distance to many places. Very great breakfast and lounge for the premium members. Loved walking out to see the tulip gardens too. I also found a new favorite beverage while staying!

Great experience! Staff was exceptional! Restaurant ambiance and lobby/lounge area with fireplace was nice for a glass of wine. We love the proximity to Eaton's Centre (literally 30 seconds outside door to door). Only small comment on a personal note would be a few gluten free options on restaurant menu. They were able to accommodate, which filled my belly, but could have a few options without much effort.

Unsanitary & unprofessional response. Late at night a puddle, which smelled like urine, appeared on my bathroom counter. I inspected it further and looked like it was coming from the bubbling ceiling and leaked from another suite. I had to throwaway some of my personal belongings because the leaky urine smelling liquid was spilling over onto them. I called housekeeping who came to clean it up and confirmed that it smelt like urine. I was shocked that the towels were also yellow from the liquid. Front desk did allow me to change my suite, but upon talking with management they denied my claims of it smelling like urine, and said that house keeping made no claim of a urine smell. I've mentioned it to Thomas (assistant manager) that I can show him the videos and pictures but he did not care. I've tried to attach photos but google does not allow it for negative reviews.
