How many times I've been here, I can't count. We always ski up and have a good meal beside the wood stove which keeps us toasty. A favorite of the family.

Tucked away in the heart of the Gatineau, Keegan (Keogan) Lodge is a perfect refuge from the wintery outdoors. It's ski in access only during the winter and intended to be a spot to warm up by the woodstove and eat packed in meals. It was a 30-45 min uphill ski in from parking lot 10, and 20-30 min downhill ski out. The cabin is rustic. No water or electricity and you are expected to carry all your trash out. This all ads to the authentic classic Nordic experience of the Gatineau. We went on an evening midweek between Christmas and the holidays and the place was a buzz with activity. Of the dozen tables it was 80% full, and groups took turns heating meals (fondues, soups, veggies) on the woodstove.

Keogan cabin is a nice spot to relax after walking along the numerous hiking trails in Gatineau park. It is equipped with a true wood burning stove where you can warm up a bit on cooler days. An emergency line is available too. Outside the cabin is a picnic bench to enjoy a meal outdoors while admiring the fall colors or soak in the sounds of the nearby stream. It is also worth noting that Keofan also had a his and hers outhouses for whenever nature calls.

It feels kind of weird to review a free cabin lol but this is a really nice cabin as far as they go. There's a wood stove and free wood with an axe provided. It's surrounded by hiking or skiing trails in the gatineau woods. There's a lot of picnic tables, candle holders and matches. Also an outhouse nearby which, along with the cabin, is cleaned and checked on regularly.

Nice fire when we arrived, clean and warm. Remember your matches and candles!

We visit several times per year en famille, on foot or by ski, bringing a picnic lunch or supper and a deck of cards. Can occasionally be crowded but crowds usually disperse rapidly and we've never been shut out. The wood stove keeps the cabin warm. Bring candles for lighting after dark. Time to get here from P10 with very casual young skiers: 60-90 minutes (only a very short section is steep enough to challenge beginners, unfortunately it's the first 10 minutes). The return trip is 20-30 minutes of easy but safe and controlled descending.

Comfortable and cozy, like all the park's shelters. Firewood, newspapers and tinder available as well as candle holders

Great, spacious shelter with a fireplace. There are three toilets close by, surprisingly they did not smell and were clean - well, as clean as out houses can get. Good spot to take a break during a hike or a ski outing.
