Days Inn by Wyndham Calgary South

Unfortunately it has the novelty of being the COVID hotel but I got to stay there as both a customer and as a phase 3 housing guy and both times this place was tremendous. Both days Inn staff and AHS staff there past and present knew how to treat a guy. Once it's done being the COVID Inn I suggest staying there.

This review is during COVID-19 and therefore only related to experiences with front desk reception as we have not interacted with any other staff. To describe this place, best words comes to mind is a circus or a joke. It’s so disorganized, nobody has any idea what’s going on and they don’t listen to you and massively over-complicate simple requests. Rest of the hotel/rooms is OK, old but in moderate condition. Below pictures elaborate how I agree and believe in staff and customer safety. However, how you can charge the same room rate but not provide substantial breakfast alternatives but advertise happy hour in the bar and open the hairdressers is contradicting in my opinion.

It is great for the current rate, but the customer service needs much improvement. I didn't reserve ahead of time, which was okay considering Covid-19 pandemic still active and accommodations aren't at peak demand. I wasn't asked or offered any type of discount. I asked if they have AMA discount? He then said he would honour an AMA discount and hand wrote over the computer print out. No effort to let us know about any amenities. Where to park, room directions, wifi access or make note of the on site place to eat. 3 Boys Lounge is on site and if I wasnt staying at the hotel I will definitely return. This is a gem you don't want to miss! In the room - fridge, coffee maker. However the fridge doesn't have an ice box. Not a real biggy but I am travelling with a cooler and it would have been handy. There isn't a microwave if you were hoping for one. The rooms are clean and nice for an older Inn. When it comes down to it, the value for your money is there.

Great value and excellent service. I found it quiet and relaxing and the front desk and housekeeping staff were friendly and professional. I did have a small problem within my room, which I brought to management's attention. They dealer with the issue quickly professionally and were very appologetic. The breakfast area could've been a bit cleaner however. One small thing: the woman managing the breakfast area was cleaning tables with a feather duster. This isn't the proper sanitary method of cleaning eating surfaces. Perhaps being this to her attention. Aside from that, a very pleasant stay.

This was my worst booking with booking.com. arrived on site and when we got on site the hotel smelt really bad, we checked in and go to our room and the passcard did not work for the room. They gave me a total of 10 new room cards and none of them worked. They sent maintenance and they said they would fix the issue. I booked two rooms with the same issues and maintenance could now fix the issue. We were advised that maintenance would have the issue resolved when we returned and to carry on with our day. What a joke! We couldn't even put our bags in the room. We returned from the day and we come back to one pass working for one room but the other room still would not work. The worker named Ivan who was very rude came upstairs with us to open the door with a master key but even he could not open the door. He finally got the door open and we put our belongings inside the Room and went to get ice told the door will work now. And only to find out we got locked out of the room with our belongings stuck in the room. We have to call the front desk for them to come up again which took over an hour for them to get the door open again. Meanwhile the gentleman Ivan helping was so rude the whole time. At the end my daughter needed a room to sleep So I told them to book us another room because this room was clearly have issues. The main staff Ivan made us wait while he served other customers. Made hand gestures towards us when we said we should be a priority. He then attended to us but when I asked if the room would be discounted or free for the inconveniences and he ignored me and continued to speak to my wife over me and ignored me. He was beyond rude and unprofessional and made a scene in front of other customers waiting in the lobby. By the end I took the room key and contact information for the management and was beyond disturbed with the dirtiness, the rudeness, the overall location was in a bad place full of drug addicts and the bathroom was not cleaned stains everywhere.

Do not recommend here nor will we come back. We stayed here for 2 consecutive nights. Overall, we didn't like this place. To point out a few things, the place didn't seem very clean. We were afraid to sit on the sofa by the looks of it. I saw stains on one of the towels. The coffee maker didn't seem like it has been used or washed for a long time. The clock wasn't showing the correct hour. The mini fridge would not get cold, so our ice packs wouldn't freeze up for use the next day. They were in the freezer compartment the whole evening and night yet did not freeze. The food we stored wasn't cold by morning either. When we first arrived, we noticed the sink doesn't drain. My boyfriend had to fix it so it drains. On the second day, we noticed the drainage pretty much stopped, and we were waiting around every time for the water to go down. We were rarely in the suite or using the sink yet we had to wait painfully for it to drain after we finally came back to rest. I've never been to any place like this one. Unbelievable. The TV has very low view quality, it hurts the eyes to watch. The staff gave us the to-go breakfast bag with yogurt that expires on the same day. We didn't realize it until noon. Maybe it's more considerate that people should not be forced to consume something on the same day they receive it, when they did not have a choice in the first place? On the second night starting at 9pm, we heard people loudly laughing and talking beside our room (the doors are connected), and they did not stop their loud socialization until 11 or 12pm. It would be hard to believe that the entire hotel was occupied, or the necessity to put us so close beside each other during a pandemic. All we wanted was a clean and quiet place to stay during our visit in Alberta.

Considering all the bad write ups at this Hotel they should welcome all customers... not refuse. Paying customers is what keeps them afloat. Without the customer, there is no job. Franchise Owners disrespecting Corporate Policies... is very unsettling. Passing that type of behavior onto your employees who then pass it on to the customer is even worse. I give this location (0) for customer satisfaction. This location should be closed permanently! No great experiences to share. Please be Advised this Hotel is located on 2799 Sunridge Way N.E. We didn't get to stay here. I had to confirm my reservation for July. They informed me that I can't keep it cause hotel will be closed due to renovation. Now to find an already expensive reservation due to the last minute notice. I wonder what would have happened if I didn't call. Don't appreciate the last minute notice.
