Only a small selection of sunglasses can actually have a prescription added to it, all of the good ones you can't get with a prescription. Staff is cold and unhelpful.

Costo In-house OPTICAL STORE dos not provide the same quality of goods and service that you would get from Costco wholesale. Do not by the glasses there, are cheaply made and they charge top money for it. I just want to tell you about my experience at the Costco Optical at 18182 Yonge st. Newmarket Ontario, L9N 0J3. I am a Senior, and I usually by my glasses at Wall Mart, in 2016 I decided to get my new prescription at Costo. The Cost was $500.00 for top of the line bifocal lenses and a basic frame. Glasses came with a two year warranty. Early on the 3rd year my Costco glasses lenses developed a problem, the coating that they put on it started to separate, just like when you see a car on the road with the Windows tint bubbling up, but on the lenses is very faint and hard to see. I figured I was having Eye problems, maybe developing cataracts or something, so I went to see my eye Doctor and he told me that nothing was wrong with my eyes, he inspected my Costco glasses and found the problem. So I had to find my old Walmart glasses which are still in great condition and I only payed $250.00 for them 5 years ago and the lenses coat is still perfect. I have been using my old glasses for about a week, today May 1st 2019 I had a chance to go to Costco in Newmarket and talk to the Optical people. I was greeted by a nice polite lady, I explained the problem to her, showed her my glasses and she proceeded to tell me that the coating is separating and the glasses are only guaranteed for only two years, as I mentioned to the lady that this is not usual for expensive lenses of this type to go bad after only 2.5 years , she politely reminded me that the lenses are out of warranty and there is nothing she could do. I told her that I had a new prescription with me and I will not purchase any more glasses from them anymore. I don’t know if Costco gets involved with a situation like this, I will try to get to the bottom of this. So Costco Optical gets one star from me. And Costco corporate should be checking the quality of work the Optical people are providing to the Costco customers. I suggest that If you intend to keep your glasses for more than too years, then Costco Optical is not for you. I am going back to good old Wall Mart and get two good pair for the price of a chip one at Costco. My next complain will be to the BBB, and Costco corporate head quoters. Carp, and CTV. We are not called seniors for nothing. Have a great day.

At costco vision center, service depends on who's working and how busy it is. I would like to personally thank the gentleman named, Harry, who always does his best to ensure our needs are met. Employees like Harry is why I still go to costco to get glasses.

I was coming off a terrible weekend, starting the week without contacts. The optometrist remained professional, helpful and worked with me through my exam to get me on file. I came in hot, angry and short tempered, she still remained professional. In the end, I walked away with new contacts and options for a returning visit to order more contacts. Hand shake and a great smile from the Optometrist turn my day around. Thank you again Dr. Power

The one star is based on my last visit! I first visited Costco Vision Centre in Newmarket in late November 2020/Early December 2020. I had a really hard time finding contacts to fit my eyes (which is nobodies fault.. Just the way my eyes are!).. I dealt with several different people during that time and I would say they were all very helpful with that! We decided on the Acuvue Oasis Daily Contacts for Astigmatism. Perfect! I told the employees that buying 30 days at a time is the best option for me at the moment. I also was able to pay when the contacts came in rather than the day I ordered them. I am NOT happy with the service I received I believe it was either Thursday or Saturday (I cannot remember as it was Easter long weekend so the days are a bit messed up).. I went to the desk to order another 30 days worth and was abruptly told that they no longer do the 30 days and that they only do the 90 day boxes now. I was not given any suggestions or other options. I was then repeatedly asked if I was going to order them and then was told I had to pay then and there. I'm sorry but at the moment that is not convenient for me. We are in a pandemic and the difference between $80 and $240 might not be a big jump for some people but for me it is. Overall my last experience was really not good. I read a couple of other reviews to say that it depends on whos working. I think that might be the case but there were two people "helping" me.

I had my eyes checked today by the optometrist inside of Costco, so I decided to walk over to the Optical Centre and get fitted for contacts- fully expecting to fight off a salesperson pressuring me to make a purchase. That is actually the furthest thing from what happened. Brian, the associate who helped me out, was fantastic. He was professional, helpful, knowledgeable, and all around just a very pleasant guy. Instead of pressuring me to make a purchase he gave me a sample trial for several days to try at work and told me if I liked them to consider buying a box. Give me suggestions for eye drops to relieve my issues with dry eyes and he also kindly informed me that my eyes were borderline identical and if I did choose to make a purchase I could get away with only buying one box at a time to save money. Contacts can often be found cheaper online, but I think if I do decide to buy a box it will be here thanks to the awesome staff. Thanks so much, Brian!
