***Disclaimer: this is not a troll review. I was genuinely bothered and these events are true.*** Don’t bother going here. They provided terrible customer service, dismissed any questions my friends or I had about paint. Multiple times my friends and I politely tried asking questions with one employee, but he wouldn’t even acknowledge our voices. It was as if we were air. He only acknowledged us when one other customer mentioned we’re trying to get his attention. To that he replied “I can only help one at a time”. Let me tell you - this man wasn’t helping anyone but us - we were standing right next to him whilst being ignored. He was holding OUR paint to give to the cashier. HE WAS just STANDING THERE, not bothering to tell us in any way that he would like to not interact with us (although it was very clear). He only responded to the other person. It would’ve been nice to have at least been acknowledged so we don’t sound and feel like scared mice taking turns saying “excuse me, excuse me.” I see that others have mentioned this store was helpful, HOWEVER our experience was anything but that. There was one other fella who was in the paint section downstairs. He was kind and the real MVP, but that’s it. They also overcharged us for the paint and when we inquired about it, the lady at the cashier so rudely scoffed and shrugged her shoulders. I even double checked the listed prices on the shelf - there was nothing listed there for the price we paid. TELL ME HOW THAT MAKES SENSE? She wasn’t willing to call the manager even when I pointed it out and even though she brought up the subject of a manager. Her response to me when I did question the prices not matching was “I don’t know”. This is when I got frustrated and said “why do you even have price tags” she then again said “I don’t know”. When I tell you no one cared. No one cared. And it’s cool, I get it, there’s bigger things to worry about - we’re in the middle of a pandemic - but I’m sensitive and I care when me and my marginalized group of friends are treated terribly unsolicitedly. I felt belittled for myself and my friends. The issue here isn’t about the overpricing, but ripping off your customers. Where are the principles, morals, ethics, and respect? We also paid an eco fee for the environment (all hail mother nature), but we did not feel welcomed in that environment. It needs some cleansing with some sage. Needless to say, my feelings are hurt and I’m dissatisfied. I don’t want to shop here again, but I probably will because everything else is too far.

Cool place despite the stodgy appearance. Surprisingly good for electronic kit lovers (Arduino) and many hard to find parts. Also surprisingly large selection of items. A lot bigger inside than you would think as has 2 floors.

They were quite helpful and someone was on the ready to help, weather it was to find something or pay for a purchase. FYI they welcomed our big dog no issues at all.

I have a 1970's stereo, and needed a double female connector to mate 4 RCA type cables .. didn't even know if such a thing existed, but in their cavernous basement with an incredible assortment of cable ends, and electronic doo-hickeys I found my piece!! $1.75!! Now my big speaker retro stereo is kickin' again!! I didn't know what 99% of the things I was looking at did .. fascinating. Took a while to find what I wanted, but was well worth it.

If you must place an order, it's best to order online at the home hardware website, you can ask customer service for assistance. If you place a special order through the 290 College Street store, the minute they collected your money , they will ignore you, make you wait a very long time before releasing your order. Susan is rude, hangs up on you and lies. The manager, Peter is nice but will not take your call (he leaves this to his employees). My next order will definitely be sent to another store for pick up.

Thank you to the knowledgeable staff at this home hardware. For that, a poem I wish to share, your help gave my projects that much more flare. This store has all of your construction needs, plus buying local helps contribute to your creative deeds. I appreciate your electronic wiring section, and the staff are always there to answer any question.. Thanks for the hinges, adhesive, saw, and toilet paper hangers. You make repairs simple after those late night bangers.

Probably one of my favourite places to come search for electronic components. When I come I usually require a day off just so I can linger. The staff are always friendly. Theres an upstairs and downstairs. And just a reminder that during lock down there's no insyore shopping. You have to place your ahead of time and pick up only. The electronics is near the paint section in the basement. Head down the stairs to your right. Tools are upstairs back left. They have screens l, wires, downs. Just about everything but the kitchen sink. I'm certain I've never seen as many resistors and fuses In my life. If I can call these supplies are stocked for the University of Toronto. So, doing some quick calculations they have roughly 4922 small storage compartments to search through but there definitely more. They have some batteries and components for RC vehicles. You name it they most likely have it. It's not the most high tech Home Hardware on the neighborhood but beggars can't be choosers. It's got just about everything you could need in a central location. One trick I didn't know about for some time, was in the tools and screws section. They have sliding racks and behind those racks is another selection of more tools. They can cut keys, as well as chains, steel poles and bars to any length.

This place is the best, they have the regular home hardware stuff but in their basement there's a section where you can find circuit boards and components, was able to find a specific capacitor /resistor to fix my old bmw. I could buy a new car and shop at home depot, but this is way better.
