Great place to have amazing gluten free fried chicken. The breading is so flavorful and the service is wonderful. The potato wedges are amazing!! I love ordering here and can't wait to come back again!!!

Clean, friendly & tasty! Love this place, will always come back for more. The chicken waffle with the tangy sauce is to die for ?

Nothing wrong with the quality of food here. The fact they run this as a order at the counter type service and are charging $16 for eggs, bacon, some wedge hashbrowns, and a slice of toast is where the wheels come off. Our table waited a solid 15 minutes for our mimosas to arrive. At one point, the clerk and food runner both disappeared for a solid 10 minutes. Maybe there are some kinks to work out still, but being attached to a Le Germaine hotel, I’d expect much better service from the staff. There’s a lot of brunch spots in Calgary (and I mean a lot), this one sadly only stands out for being expensive and (likely) understaffed which isn’t a vibe for a business in the East Village. That being said I’ll probably give this place a shot in 2023 to see how they’ve shaped up!

Very bright and airy space, and a nice stop for a cup of coffee in the east end of downtown. The walking path and the river make for a great destination for a weekend breakfast. The coffee is bottomless! The eggs were cooked just right, and the bun for my egg sandwich was so light and fluffy. The bread was my favorite part!

Stopped in to try a different spot. This is such a nicely designed diner. Really liked the decor. The service was really friendly and very quick. The food though, doesn’t match the nice space. It’s “meh” at best. Potato wedges are clearly from a frozen bag and the bacon, while plenty was over cooked. For $16 I expected much more. It’s too bad. I really wanted to like this place. There are a number of Diners in the area that are much more worth your while. The latte was good so that’s worth a star.

Insanely expensive. $27 for a simple breakfast (1 toast, potatoes, 2 eggs and subbed falafel for bacon) plus a cappuccino is astounding for small portions and lackluster flavor. Just no.

Wonderful food, the bacon was generous, cooked to perfection and good quality to begin with. Potatoes were seasoned with a delightful flavor and just the right portion. Eggs and tomato were as to be expected. However, if you like coffee, I suggest you get it elsewhere as it was watery and not worth the price. I will definitely eat here again (and have something else to drink). Lastly, the service was helpful and friendly- she was a delight to deal with. My husband had a fried falafel dish that he raved about.

I came here with some expectations based on the interesting menu and reviews. The menu is very good. It not a large menu with balance. The names of the dishes are catchy. The venue is nice and welcoming. The staff are polite and friendly as expected in Canada. I ordered a cappuccino with waffle and fried chicken. The coffee came instantly so I believe it must have been from a machine. The quality of the coffee was average. The cup size was large as you can see from image, so they were generous with the quantity. To my taste the cappuccino tasted more like a latte it was very milky. Right after having this coffee I walked across the street to Phils and Sebastian and had cappuccino there and I experience a big difference in the quality of the coffee. Waffles and fried chicken I have tried a lot in the states in places like north Carolina, NYC, bay area and Texas. So my judgement could be slightly bias as I experienced some really large size chicken servings cooked in southern style with some tasty seasoning red or orange color crispy battery skin buttery with syrup drizzle on top with the thick waffles spongy inside and crispy outside. Everything was freshly made. The fried chicken here was breast with a very mild seasoning. The breast was dry inside and you taste more of the marination and coating than the chicken meat itself. That was in contrast to the chickens I had in the states. The chicken in the states where southern fried chicken that were definitely nicely brined and marinated giving nice juicy chicken meat. The chicken were whole pieces of thighs or beast with bone and skin. You get the nice crispy chicken skin. All these elements of a good fried chicken was missing. The chicken here almost tasted as though it was from a ready made package. Waffles also average at best. The waffles also tasted like the ones that were ready made package. This is a restaurant at back if alt hotel downtown, I expected more high quality preparation. I am surprised by the rating of 4.1 currently for this place. I may have missed on the other good dishes perhaps. I am in dilemma to go back or not again. Chicken and waffles is a classic breakfast dish. It is not that difficult to get right. But the chicken and waffle was average at best. I would give it a 2.5 rating for this specific dish and coffee. With a little bit more effort this dish can be better prepared. My overall rating is 3/5 including food , venue and experience. I recommend the cook study some chicken and waffle recipes on YouTube to get ideas how to improve this classic dish.
