Beacon Pharmacy - Calgary

This is a great pharmacy. A lot of people refuse to work with addictions. This pharmacy goes above and beyond. I come here regularly and have seen the staff yelled at and belittled by high people and yet they are always kind to me. I especially like the short asian girl. Thanks guys!

I came to this pharmacy when other pharmacy's told me they couldn't order in my life-sustaining, kidney transplant meds. Needless to say, it was a good choice because this is now my favorite pharmacy! If you call in advance, they're usually on the ball for filling your prescriptions. Plus, if you think the travel is too far or you don't like driving downtown, you can get them to deliver your meds - Great bonus!

I am replying to a review that Mr. Weber has posted. It is unfortunate your experience at beacon pharmacy. I would like to point out a few things that alot of people do not see of what goes on "behind" the counter. Beacon pharmacy is unique with such a diverse clientele. It may look as if staff is not busy ,while waiting for your own script. Truth is....they have clients that come in daily for their meds, these have to be filled and processed. A priority. Beacon offers free delivery, these have to be filled, billed, by a certain time in morning for delivery p/u at 1230pm. Imagine how many scripts need to be filled for this alone! Yes you are correct, there is "lots of staff" . What the average person does not see with staff,.. front line staff, dealing with mounds and mounds of paper work(no not your average "for filing" papers) that are pertinent to that day alone. Recieving scripts to be filled , answering phones, etc. , another doing the same. Oh and yup, another frontliner u guessed it ! Same thing! (Thank you to mindy,anita,Rachel!)they also help out when needed with pharmacists! And while on subject of pharmacists, these professionals are swamped day in day out! Imagine trying to keep your head straight filling scripts for stats, delivery, dailies, and walk ins! So honestly, it may look like staff is killing time but you don't realize they could be waiting for #1 priority fax for example on a refill that has to go out stat ! Not to mention the hours this staff puts in just logging info on computer,looking up files while on phone . This is also a pharmacy that Rich and Amy allow pharmaceutical students to work and learn.(these 2 wear their hearts literally on their sleeve!) Dealing with back orders, calling other pharmacies for stock if needed. I could go on about behind the scenes that u don't see as a person just walking in handing in a script. I am very sorry about your experience here at beacon. Maybe just take a moment to re-think reasons behind your "wait". Mr.Weber mentioned waiting for antibiotics. Now to me, not a high up there priority,compared to emergency fills. Or clientele that have to come in at a predetermined time for meds. You have to look at all sides of the box to see possiblity of reasons of wait. Beacon thrives because of the honest straight out care the entire staff radiates to their customers. I have been a client for going on 7yrs ,you could not hand me enough money to leave my "beacon family"! So I do feel I am quite qualified to reply to a negative review. I hope that Mr. Weber has the opportunity to come back to beacon, and have a positive experience. It also could have just plain out been "one of those days " everyone has. Thank you to Rich and Amy and the ENTIRE staff for your dedicated work and always always going that extra mile for anyone that needs it! You are all amazing with what you do everyday and the dedication to truley help and make a difference. Because......beacon pharmacy....you are making a difference, where not many corporate pharmacies would step into! On the topic of "street people"(not my words) THIS IS THE MAJORITY of clients! Beacon knows and 100% have no judgements upon. I have never personally witnessed any discrimination, I am at sheldon chumir (elbow river healing lodge)sometimes 3-4 days a week besides getting my scripts always stop in to say hi. Never have I seen this "street people" situation Mr. Weber stated. If anything it's the opposite, the ones down on their luck are the ones beacon is dedicated to help. They know ,they understand,educate,do not judge. I would encourage ANYONE to check out beacons website to see the dedication Rich and Amy have to."street people " (horrible classification of humans in 2019!)this is majority of clients, so Mr. Weber the looking down on someone statement is false. Before one passes judgement upon another you need to know the facts first.more than one visit is needed to see the dynamics of this pharmacy,and mustard seed Location. Hmmm Mustard seed location says right there about how they feel about "street people".

Horrible pharmacy! I've been going to them for a while now and they are consistently screwing up. My meds are NEVER ready when I'm told they are, they make me wait waaaaay longer then they tell me, they don't communicate if there's an issue, and they lie rather than dealing with these issues. They even lost a prescription once and refused to acknowledge it!! There are too many reasons for me to list but you should avoid this place if you can.

the staff have treated me with respect and courtesy for close to 3 yrs now since i developed 2 serious life altering conditions. their pricing can't be beat and i don't even have to give my name on the phone because they know my voice. i live in temple now instead of the same bldg as them on centre and still deal with them to spite the distance i have to travel twice a month for a yr and a half now

Very slow service right now I am sitting waiting for weeks worth of antibiotics there are bout 5 staff very little customers been in since I came to get my prescription which I would have thought it would have been made already very poor attitudes too if you point out the issues if person looks like a street person or addiction problem they seem to like drag feet for service!!! Will be last time I use them will also be filing with B.B.B and human rights a

I never had a good experience here. Chose beacon as my pharmacy when I began hormone therapy. I’m a trans man. Seemed like they never had testosterone in stock and sometimes I had to wait weeks for them to get it. They rarely contacted me once my prescription was in and this lead to several lapses in the dosage of my medication. One of the first times I picked up, one of the female pharmacists loudly misgendered me to another employee while I was standing there. Another time the same person called me another female gendered name (not my birth name) after assuming who I was instead of asking me when I went in. Do yourself a favour and don’t go here if you’re LBGTQ+. I switched to a different pharmacy a month ago after never hearing back when I left a message for a refill.

Beacon Pharmacy was amazing, providing not only prescription but following up with doctors and sharing information to make me comfortable. Highly recommended!
