One of the worst customer experiences I have ever had. I made my reservation 2 months in advance only to be told that no cars were available when I showed up. I had to wait 3 long hours on site to make sure I eventually got a car, as the Avis staff on site were not beeing straighforward with customers and skipping over those who decied to leave and be notified once a car was available. Avis did not offer us any compensation for our lost time and the stress they caused us. I strongly recommend you avoid Avis as a whole and particularly this location. I will never again do business with Avis.

We had an amazing experience at this location! I haven't rented with Avis in years. Jasmine and Erik were extremely helpful and accommodating. They made us feel very welcome and right at home. We have just booked another rental for a few weeks from now with them because of this! Highly recommend these folks should you be renting a car downtown Calgary.

Told me there was a system error on the day of pickup. Charged me more than 3 times more than the confirmed amount online, in email, and over the phone. Couldn't even refused or else I will have to cancel my trip. Will never rent a car at Avis again Update: After contacting Avis customer service with proof of the original cost and arguing with the store manager for several days. I was informed that CONFIRMATION EMAILS sent by Avis does not guarantee the cost of the reservation. They are still free to charge whatever they like on the day of reservation. P.S. Their website still have the exact same price for similar reservations (not the 3x they charged me) Update 2: After going through the CIU and BBB, the company agreed to honor the email confirmation amount and gave me a refund.

My husband and I rented a car for our honeymoon. Upon arrival at the pick up desk at the reserved time we were told that no car was available for the next few hours but we could pay an additional fee for an upgrade to a higher vehicle class and get a car straight away. We were told to complain to customer services. When we rang them the agent asked us whether we wanted to cancel our reservation which we declined as the price for a new reservation was way higher than the prebooked fee. After I ended the phone call, the lady at the desk told me the reservation had been cancelled! I explained that it must have been a misunderstanding but to no avail. After 4 hours of back and forth, they eventually offered us a deal which was Β£200 more expensive than our original booking! We had no other option but to pay... A truly upsetting experience which also cost us 4 hours of our day!

I do not recommend using AVIS, they use underhanded business practices. When the rep pitches the "Gas Service Option" to you, they make it sound extremely convenient and explain that you only need to fill the tank up and return the car if you don't want to be charged the fee when your tank is not empty. I was charged this fee despite filling the tank up completely. When I spoke to a rep at through the phone, they explained to me that it was common practice for AVIS to request a proof of a full tank (a photograph of the dash) and proof of purchasing gas. This is extremely poor business practice, their agents clearly checked the dash and made notes as they knew the mileage I dropped the vehicle off at, and thus would know already the tank was full. I did indeed have proof of both without being informed by the initial rep of being required to retain them, but I'm sure many others before me have not. They should not be charging for services not rendered and leaving the burden of proof on the client. This cost me far more time than it would have been convenient for their service.

Originally had a good experience. Pickup and dropoff experience was easy enough. Staff was friendly and good to work with. Unfortunately they didn't have the car I had the Sonata I had reserved, they gave me a Tuscon instead. A SUV of the exact value of the Sonata, not ideal but totally fine. In my review after the experience I gave high scores for every question they asked, except I stated that I didn't get the car I reserved and wasn't happy with the substitute as it wasn't what I'd consider an upgrade. The ops manager I'll call 'B' then reached out to argue about whether or not it was an upgrade. I explained and then we had more back and forth. Which is a lot for a minor point in a review. After this exchange my experience went from okay, to not great. We'll see what's next, maybe it will go all the way to bad. Pretty rough for my first experience with Avis. I won't be back based on this.

The staff at Avis's downtown Calgary location went above and beyond to make sure that we had what we needed for our rental. We are especially grateful for the option to get snow tires. The person at the counter (I believe his name was Erik) was extremely helpful, professional and kind. We really appreciated our experience at Avis and are now prefer Avis over other rental companies and would absolutely recommend Avis to friends and family.

I rented a 4 doors car. I picked it up downtown Edmonton and dropped the car off in downtown Calgary. The car had a chip on the windshield when I picked up the car, the staff said it was fine to use. I booked the car more than one month, why they could not arrange a good car for me? I did not have any choice at that time , then just believed them. I thought I was lucky, the car was fine so far to use . But when I tried to return the car. I had a hard time to find the location. I drove by around the location they showed again and again. Finally I found the place , it was on the 7/f parking building. The office already was closed at 3pm on Saturday?. I was so confused to drop it. It showed put the key in the envelope and write down the gas level and time. But no more envelopes there. I called the Avis customer service department to try to get some ideas. Look like the staff did not know much, he said I could put the car key and my contact in the car key box. I just fellow he said to put the car key , my contact and I wrote down the car had full gas level and that day and time on a paper. I putted them in the car key box that they provide. Next day I called the office. The staff said it was good everything, so I asked and got a confirmation by email. I recommend the company can give more detail and ideas to their customers. Look like clear Location, how to drop the car and car key after office close, and where to park the car.
