My doctor moved to this clinic a while ago, but he was fantastic and I highly recommend him. This isn’t what this is about, though. The trouble is with particular staff that thinks it’s okay to yell (and mockingly laugh) at patients over the phone. I needed my files transferred because I had recently switched physicians. Management wants money for you to transfer your personal health files over fax? Okay, I’ll bring a USB. β€œOh, you’ll have to leave it with us for a weekend, it’ll take a while to upload everything”. Sure, no problem! I had a lot of things to investigate since not having a family doctor until I became an adult. I take the USB back and bring it to my doctors office, they say they can’t read it and there’s only 19mgb on it (on a 16gb USB, mind you). At this point, I phone the clinic and ask about solutions. I already spent money on gas. They tell me there’s a fee now. But shouldn’t it have been done properly in the first place? I don’t have money to give them for my own personal information. No checking it before giving it to the patient? Why weaponize incompetence, let alone extort patients for their personal information from management. If a patient has a bigger file, they likely don’t have a ton of extra money to throw around if they need care elsewhere. I understand not everyone wants to deal with a patient with records 240+ pages long, but this could have been handled with a lot more compassion, empathy, and care? We Care Medical + Pharmacy should reflect their name when dealing with complicated cases, instead of deflecting blame onto the patient for it being 2 months (there are multiple factors for this, none of which I should have had to go into.) Since coming in to retrieve my files from them, or audibly getting angry with patients over the phone when searching for solutions. If you don’t like your job, maybe medical reception/management isn’t for you.
