I ask lots of questions and I had good experience taking the top end of 1970's motor there to be cleaned up and have heads shaved. Trevor was always friendly and enthusiastic, always had the stages of work completed when he said he would. Charged a price based off quote and not like other mechanic shops I went to that quoted $100+/hour which made me nervous- I appreciated knowing the price up front. I would feel confident to bring them work again. When I went there with another project previously, they consulted and reviewed my blown motor and steered me to other options that worked better for me. I feel they are true pros with the clients best interests at heart.

The experience in dealing with Trevor was positive. He took the time to stop what he was doing, talk to me in detail, offer a quote and write down the scope of work. The work was rebuilding and decking a pair of diesel cylinder heads for a Mercedes OM642. Not typical, but he was able to turn this around for a next day pick up! I've heard nothing but good things from local car enthusiasts. Plan to do business again.

Trevor went above and beyond building my Samurai engine. His customer service was excellent and even took a personal interest in making sure the motor was broke in properly. Highly recommend!!?

This is a rather rare and expensive 6 cylinder 4.0L Toyota turbo diesel that Valley Speed did the machine work on while I was rebuilding it in 2014. I have not spoken up, other than to inform them at the time of their mistake, but having seen other examples of poor engine assembly and machine work coming out of this shop, I feel it is important to speak up. The block was bored to 1st oversize, and new pistons were fitted. During the machining process, it is very clear that their machinist completely screwed up the boring process and severely over-chamfered several of cylinders. This mistake has lead to ongoing issues with sealing the cylinders as the diameter of the bore at the chamfered point is larger in diameter than the combustion sealing ring of the head gasket. Factory head gaskets are not able to seal this engine as the combustion gases leak under the gaskets and cause the cooling system to purge its contents. The solutions were to either return the block to Valley Speed from where I'm located on the Island and having it re-machined and liners installed, or getting custom MLS head gaskets installed. I was not prepared to let Valley Speed have anything to do with my engine, and there was very little concern shown when I originally told them about the problems they created. I chose to not send it back - very time consuming and expensive - and instead opted to have (very expensive) custom MLS gaskets made - this has not been perfect solution. I don't know what's happened to this machine shop over the past years; I had heard many good things prior to taking my engine here for work. But now other people I know have also had very bad experiences here - and Valley Speed has not stepped up to the plate in any way, rather they choose to accuse their customers of making errors themselves and deny any part in the errors they are making. I would suggest that anyone who is thinking of taking work here should seriously consider going to machine shop that will back up their work, demonstrate ownership and responsibility for their mistakes, empathize with clients they have seriously inconvenienced, and make good on what they have screwed up.

Trevor was very helpful in helping me repair my leaky intake manifold and timing cover on a GM Marine 4.3 Vortec engine. He took the time to to discuss the way he would repair it and gave several valuable tips so that it wouldn't leak again. I followed his advice and used the upgraded Fel Pro gaskets withe metal inserts that he sourced. No leaks! Trevor has a wealth of knowledge and is very friendly and was willing to help even though it wasn't a machining job for his shop.

I was told I'd get my motor back in 2 to 3 weeks, 5 months later I was still waiting, got it back and it burned a lot of oil. Valley tore it apart again and it was no better. I took the motor to Magnum Machine, when they tore it down they found it was full of old parts, the cylinders were not even round. Trevor is a terrible liar, not to be trusted with anything.
