Touchan Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery - Calgary

A few months ago I visited Dr. Touchan’s office for a consultation regarding the removal of some of my wisdom teeth. My experience was truly a disappointing one. I see that the doctor has many great reviews that I am sure are very well deserved. My review here in no way reflects on the doctor or his abilities/expertise. It is on the consultation process I experienced at his office. Bottom line, I have had more courtesy and consideration given when ordering a burger at a McDonalds than during the consultation. It started off badly. Only after waiting for 50 minutes past my appointment time was I taken to the consultation room by a nurse. No explanation or apologies for the delay was offered. The nurse presented some information to me and then we waited for the doctor. After waiting for 15 or so minutes, with nothing to say, the doctor arrived. He was professional but, seemed very tired and preoccupied with other things. After repeating much of what the nurse has said and a bit of poking around in my mouth he asked if I had any questions. I asked about certain risks I knew of the operation to which he provided some perfunctory answers and then went on his way. Again, he seemed to be a competent, decent guy, but he had other things on his mind, other places better to be. The nurse then presented me with some paper work I had to sign off on. This included a consent form acknowledging that understood and accepted a list of risks associated with the operation. YIKES!!! – There were 11 risks on the list… five of which were completely new to me. I have no idea why this could not have been given to me earlier, there was lots of time, so I could prepare questions I may have had for the doctor. I signed just to get out of there. The next step actually went very smoothly… the office’s processing of my consultation payment. Taking my money they had down pat, efficient no delays. However, they genuinely seemed puzzled when I said I would have to think about it when asked if I wanted to book the surgery. No follow-up call has yet to be made as to my having any questions or if I wanted to book the surgery. As mentioned earlier… I have had more courtesy and consideration when ordering a burger at a McDonalds than during this consultation.

Receptions were helpful and good. Received ample or possibly too many confirmation texts and emails of appointment. Nurses were very knowledgable and kind, and so were the doctors. I got 2 wisdom teeth out yesterday and have no complaints about the consulation procedure or surgery. Smooth process. Appointments I got were very timely as well. A suggestion would be going over the post-op care plan during the consulation or before surgery on the day of as I only read mine once I got home from the surgery and I wasnt clear on what I could and couldn't do till then. Overall if I have any other tooth issues in the future I would definitely go here.

I had my surgery for extraction of wisdom tooth in the weekend. I was so scared but doctor calmed me down and very patiently pulled my distorted tooth making the entire process go very smoothly. The entire staff including nurses were very helpful and guided me at every stage of the process. I highly recommend doctor Touchan to all those who are distressed with their tooth pain and looking for a procedure. Thank you team Touchan!

My son had to have his wisdom teeth removed as they were blocking his 12 year molars from coming in. The staff and Dr.'s at Touchan did an amazing job. My son was very well cared for and all information was explained thoroughly. He recovered quite quickly and in the short time since the surgery one of his 12 year molar is already visible.

I had a great experience at the Touchan Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery office today. I am having surgery in the near future and was very impressed with the office, Dr. Fisher, and the nurses. Everyone was very pleasant and explained everything that would happen during the surgery thoroughly. I feel so fortunate to have this competent team looking after me.

I had 4 wisdom teeth removed here and I’m so glad I chose to go to this establishment instead of elsewhere. Every visit was met with very understanding and kind staff. Dr Touchan takes his time and doesn’t behave rushed like I experienced at another office. He answers your questions clearly. I got a call from the office a few days after my procedure to make sure I was ok and given advice on what to do if any complications came up. Grateful for the care that I get at this office.

I went to Dr. Touchan for a consultation on my wisdom teeth surgery and the appointment went smoothly. Front desk staff were kind and diligent in sending all the paperwork to my insurance. The nurse I was with thoroughly explained the process for my surgery. Dr. Touchan was also very kind and I feel confident that the day of my surgery will go well. If you are needing an oral surgeon, this is the place!

My experience here was great! I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted yesterday and everyone from the reception, nurses, anesthesiologist, and doctor were awesome. I was super nervous and anxious about the procedure going in, but the staff’s constant reassurance helped me a lot. They provided me with post-op instructions prior to the surgery and the day of, as well, which was helpful. I was even contacted today by a nurse from their office to follow-up. I felt well-taken care of, thank you!
