If I could give 10 stars I would. ? I had both my pregnancies with the Midwives here. I am grateful for the level of support and knowledge that they have. The Green team was phenomenal and the six weeks of after care and support truly made my transition to motherhood as smooth as possible. They all go above and beyond to ensure that you and your new little one are taken care of. A Midwife is a great resource during an intimate and vulnerable time in your life. Wish I could have more time with them! Thanks for everything Tracy, Sarah and Sarah! P.s. Never had any problems or incidents with the reception staff, they were always kind, courteous and helpful.

From beginning to end, my team of midwives showed care and empathy. I truly appreciated all of them and thought they did a wonderful job at putting me at ease with my first baby. I would definitely request their care again. Thank you Katie, Melissa and Melinda.

I recently gave birth to my second child with the Midwives of East York. I have nothing but gratitude for these women who worked to make both experiences safe and comfortable. I opted to use Midwives but in a hospital setting, and thought it was the best of both worlds. My first birth was fast and unmedicated, and my second was much longer and I used an epidural near the end. For both experiences, my Midwives provided guidance, reassurance and skill that only comes from doing this hundreds of times. After the births, they came to my home to check the babies and me, and always had time to answer questions and talk as long as I needed. Working with this medical team has been the best experience with medical professionals I’ve ever had. I can’t recommend using a midwife enough (no matter what your birth plan is), and specifically the women at this clinic. I was lucky enough to work with Sarah Leslie and Tracy- and will 100% use them if we have another baby.

I have so much praise and thanks to the Midwives Clinic, specifically Jennifer and Sonia for being so supportive, helpful, and amazing throughout my pregnancy and delivery. I always felt that Jen and Sonia provided accurate information, were always available, consistently had positive and upbeat attitudes despite being extremely busy, and showed such kindness and patience. I had a simple pregnancy, free of any complications. My delivery was a different story. However, I got through the hardest experience of my life only because Jen and Sonia were with me every step of the way. These ladies were instrumental in lowering my anxiety and stress levels, managing expectations, and providing strategies and approaches to adjust to being a new mom. I cannot thank Jen and Sonia of the Midwives Clinic enough. I would highly recommend The Midwives Clinic and their wonderful team members in providing care to members of the community.

I met Sonia when I was 5 months pregnant. I had made the decision part way through my pregnancy to switch to a midwife because I felt that my pregnancy experience and relationship with my health care provider could be better. I had friends who had very positive experiences with their midwives and I wanted to explore that option. I was unsure if I would even get assigned to someone because I knew there were often long wait-lists, but luckily, I received a call and scheduled a meet and greet with Sonia. At the time, in 2018, Sonia was working at the Midwives Collective in Toronto. She was about one year out and was very upfront with me about her experience. She explained that there were senior midwives who were always there for her to consult with, and that her caseload wasn’t as heavy the first year out in order to provide the best care possible to her patients. At our visit, I felt very comfortable with Sonia. She explained the history of midwifery in Canada, the misconceptions the public sometimes had about midwifery and answered my questions very thoughtfully. A few days later, she called me to follow up. I decided that I wanted to be in her care. And I am so, so thankful I made that decision. Sonia is kind, caring, intuitive, knowledgeable and all around a true professional. The rest of my pregnancy was smooth without complications and she guided me safely through my delivery and after care. As a first-time mother, as much as you can prepare, childbirth a surreal and crazy experience. Sonia was calm and lead the way like she had been doing this her whole life. She knew when to push me (time to get out of the tub Jeanie) and when to ramp things up when it was time to push. She suggested different positions to promote advancement of the baby and they worked! I safely delivered my baby boy and the aftercare was even better. It is priceless to have the same person who delivered your baby, also care for you in the coming days. They know you, understand you and you trust them completely. I had a complication that resulted in urinary retention, and Sonia was there the next day to place a catheter, and many other times after that. Sonia was there for me every moment I needed her. Her care was exceptional, and I will forever be grateful to her. Thank you Sonia.

I had an awful birthing experience with the midwives here. It was traumatic. Firstly, they sell themselves as a team of midwives but only one midwife was present for the majority of my labour and one came in the last hour. Secondly, without being made known any of the possible risks (without my informed consent) I was given Pitocin, which is synthetic Oxytocin. When I asked what it was the midwife said “its just to speed up your labour.” It made labour unbearable, so unbearable I had to have an epidural which I wanted to avoid (I had made it clear to the whole team at the clinic I wanted a natural birth.) I was in soo much pain and I didn’t have an advocate. This midwife ( Kristen Campbell )did what was easier for her and what would make her clinic money. If you want a natural birthing experience you’re better off finding another clinic. Lastly, they don’t help you wash your baby and need you to leave the hospital after 3 hours. They stitch you up quickly and try to get rid of you as soon as possible. Which is barbaric. Steer clear fellow moms, especially women of colour.

From the moment I found out I was pregnant, I knew that I would like to be in the care of midwives. I initially began my care with another midwifery clinic but found it difficult to connect with my assigned midwife. Around 20 weeks, I decided to switch into the care of Sarah W and Christie at The Midwives’ Clinic.* They were both incredibly kind and knowledgeable, answering all of my (many) questions, and explaining each decision and test thoroughly. This meant that I was able to fully trust my care providers and knew that they could manage any situation that might occur with the birth. When my partner and I decided on a home birth, I began visualizing our ideal scenario in our tiny condo. When the day came, the birth was as magical as I imagined. I felt so prepared, cared for, supported, and in control. Following the birth, the midwives educated on breastfeeding and certain things to watch for, then our babe was tucked into bed with my partner and I. It was the most wonderful day of my life. I was also extremely well cared for in the postpartum period and was so grateful for the home visits and phone calls to answer any questions that I had. Thank you so much :) *Also a big thank you to midwives Nebal and Stacey (student) who attended the birth along with Christie.
