Don’t work in quality department. They only pay you $18/hr and that job can be EXTREMELY FAST PACED and stressful. Wages differ across associates; not all are making the same amount FYI to those who already work there (although that’s kind of expected).

Well, the job ad for Quality Associate is up on Indeed, so consider this review a warning from a seasoned veteran. Do NOT work at this company. They regularly fire loyal employees who have worked there for 2+ years (I have at LEAST 4 examples of people they did this to). The ‘managers’ in the quality department are a joke. They are yes (wo)men. Their job is to fight for quality, even if it means slowing things down, or placing product on hold. However, they will easily give in to any higher company executive that whines about production numbers and money. The brainwash is real here. Production supervisors and team leads will bully you into doing what they want, and if you don’t have a backbone (like me), you’ll have the hardest time even making it through your shift. The QA managers will not help you in any way; it’s up to you to deal with toxic attitudes on the daily. They also continuously choose to bury their heads in the sand whenever a problem comes up on your shift. And good luck getting a hold of them after hours. Why offer your personal number if you never answer? They are just cowards that are hoping that those that work directly under them will fix all of the daily issues with production staff. The supervisor is LAZY, just comes in for her daily chit chat, doesn’t do any real work, and you can tell she doesn’t really want to be there in full capacity. Plays favourites with her team leads, talks in her office with them for hours, ignoring her associates. Just very unprofessional. Both managers will ignore your cries for help, never hiring more staff to deal with the massive workload. Heard one of the team leads there had to go to HR just to get a raise; they finally gave this person a well-deserved promotion …pretty sad. **In hindsight, I am very grateful to have been let go since I now make $24/hour in a quality job doing LESS work, LMAO!** The quality associate position only makes about $18/hr…. pathetic

You know this place is bad when you see a terrible ‘Review from a senior manager’ on Indeed. Seriously, look it up cause it’s real. This company went through 5 senior level managers within the 4 years I was with the company. That’s about 1 person per year. Is that not a red flag? ….. Same pattern with the supervisors and team leads; they just run through them like water. Hired a bunch of supes in the summer of covid, only to fire the majority of them before summer of next year. And that doesn’t include the ones that quit on their own because the work environment is so toxic. The only ppl left there are the favourites. This place is filled with those uneducated yet privileged supervisors that think they’re gods gift but really they’re just trash.

I worked in the company for a year and 3 months. This is a wonderful company to start with in Barrie. I have seen the ups and downs of the company. And still they are doing their best for everyone in the company. Every employee in that company made me feel so good and it really felt like a family. Each supervisor in each shift are so good in handling every line and team members. Everyone had thier own experience with this company. But this is mine. I would never complain about the company or the management. They are striving to improve in every aspect.

Team leader, co-workers, HR department people are great. However, policies of this company are horrible. The owner of the company should review the policies. Please care more about the workers. Please don't just change the policies as they suit your current needs. Please care about the impact of those changes to worker’s life. Guess what will happen when you don’t care about workers?! they don’t care about you too. It is easy to understand why people in and out of your factory. There are only handful of people stay long with the company. Don’t work for them unless you are desperate.

Always remember that HR works to protect the company, not you. Many HR ppl have openly admitted to this already. Know someone that used to work at southmedic that tried to talk to the HR director about their maintenance supervisor harassing them. HR director laughed it off and even agreed to some of the stuff that was said to the employee by this maintenance supervisor. Just…wow…highly unprofessional, like everyone else that works there.

If you want just a casual few months job and then just want to quit, go for southmedic. Why am i saying this because when they need people, they keep on calling to get hired asap and whenever they want to fire someone or just keep their favourites and let others throw out; that’s totally appropriate and easy for them to do at any point of your job period. I personally won’t recommend anyone try going and working here coz they change their horrific policies every week and make their own rules. Even you justify your sick days , they throw you out without any reason. Thats what professional means to them. Supervisors and HR department is worst place to go for any kind of help. If you take one day off , you get fired. If you get sick or injured, get fired. Whatever listed in your probation or job letter, isn’t true at all. Don’t trust them. They Just hire people, and terminate or back them off at any time they want without even giving a reason. Thats how i call “insecure job”. Overall, i would say a worst place to work and worst management in general.

I worked here for almost a year! The job is tough, you need to wear a lot of protective gear to ensure a proper quality production. If you are not used to heavy, exhausting work then this is not for you. On the other side, people were always respectful, never had a problem with anyone and when I had to take some time off because of a personal matter, they understood my situation and supported me all the time. Good pay too, overall I recommend working here.
