I've had the most amazing shopping experience at the Richmond Centre Softmoc. It's rare today to even have anyone engage with you, let alone assist you with your purchase. Many thanks to Mercedes for making my day. Your patience and genuine kindness won't be forgotten.

The other negative reviews are completely justified. I used to work in retail myself and am currently in the hospitality industry so I understand things can get really rough during holiday season, and compounding that with the pandemic everywhere is short staffed and people are stressed. But this is no excuse of the experience my friend and I had this afternoon: 1. My friend arrived there before I did and was the first in line to enter the store. The staff monitoring the line asked her TWICE if she got there before the rest of the line up. Their attitude was accusatory to the point that the guy behind her spoke up and confirmed that she got there first. 2. We were looking at a pair of shoes together and discussing the pros & cons (like regular ppl do when they shop together), another staff (female, blonde straight hair who acted like a store supervisor/manager) asked very loudly to tell us to move aside because she had to access the drawers, again with so much attitude that seemed to be a signature of the store. 3. While she was rummaging through the drawers. I wanted to ask her about disposable stockings to try the shoes on. Halfway through my sentence she cut me off, said very indignantly : " YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT IN LINE FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO HELP YOU WITH YOUR SIZES, I AM HELPING SOMEONE HERE AND THERE'S A LINE OF PEOPLE WAITING TO BE ASSISTED". We looked around, no line up (maybe it was metaphorical? And who asked about sizes?), and the staff who questioned my friend at the entrance was just happily dusting the shelves beside us. At that point we were both fed up with the rudeness and walked out. The whole experience was so off-putting and left us with a sour taste about the brand.

Absolutely terrible customer service. Waited 45 mins in line to get a shoe size. Why the heck is there only ONE person working on a Sunday afternoon?! Def a management issue. Sales Associate was extremely rude. I did not appreciate that she did not have a tone with the white Caucasian customers and myself, who is of Asian decent was treated poorly. She was short and constantly dropped nasty remarks to a patron. Soft Moc has really slid down the dark abyss and they’re no longer customer centric. The associate working today on Sunday June 5 from 130pm onwards should really seek employment elsewhere. She is the am ambassador for your brand. With that attitude, NO ONE will want to spend money at your store and support your business.

My experience? The employees treated me (and the other customers present) like a pure annoyance. Some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced; employees were extremely rude and abrupt to all customers. I saw multiple different groups leave and comment on the terrible attitude of the employee they dealt with. I went to Aldo/Browns Shoes and was greeted with proper customer service & help with my requests. Avoid this location if possible; their abysmal Google Review rating is accurate.

TL;DR: DON'T SHOP HERE If I could give a 0 star rating I would. It seems that the employees here have no clue what customer service is as it is nonexistent. I had pretty much the same experience as the other reviewers and therefore found their reviews justificable. I was greet with an accusatory tone, lack of respect, and lack of customer service from the employee. As an individual who has worked in the retail industry at high volumes for 5 years, it isn't THAT hard to show basic respect no matter what situation you are in. When I went to politely ask the lady for a size, she told me that she was busy and to get in line if I wanted a size. If not, she told me to leave and to not touch anything (basically she was not going to undo the stanchion and told me and my mother to crawl under it). A very unprofessional approach to dealing with customers. My advice, take your money elsewhere. No individual should be treated that way, especially if you are giving them business. I regret supporting a company like this and will be making a return once my order comes in as this behaviour is inexcusable. Judging from the previous reviews and from my personal experience today, this company does not take these reviews seriously nor do they educate their staff on how to treat people. My experience from today is no different from reviews posted weeks and months ago.

I wish I could give this retail store 0 stars for their rating. One person working. I had to line up to get a size for the shoes I wanted to try on and line up again if I wanted to try on another size/shoe. The cashier/sales girl looked like she hated her job. Very odd considering in customer service/hospitality industry you’ll try to anticipate customer needs in hopes of return business. I highly do not recommend this store and I will not be returning.

I am a regular Softmoc customer, I have been coming to this location for years. I recently been in this location many times, and there is usually just one employee working by themselves. I have only experienced such amazing customer service in this location. I have seen customers behave in such a disrespectful manner, they are swearing, impatient and very aggressive towards staff members who are assisting all the customers at once. Even with the pandemic the customer service at this location has still been phenomenal. Shout out to the lady who assisted me with my purchase! She was beyond exceptional! She was very patient, kind and knowledgeable! I wish I could give her a big hug! :)

The sales associate (I believe named Mercedes) was really wonderful, patient and helpful. I had my 2 year old daughter with me who I was worried would be a bother to the staff since she was picking up lots of shoes, but the associate was very patient with us and understanding as I did my best to get all the shoes back and still look/try shoes for myself. She even gave my daughter some stickers to enjoy. She helped me with the shoes I wanted, and gave me some tips and ideas, and then put them on hold for me since I was going to shop around a little more. In the end I decided I wanted those shoes, but found the same ones in another store and could have conveniently just gotten them there, but I decided to go back here since I had such a nice experience with the associate and preferred to give my business here. I've worn the new shoes several times now and they are working out great for me!
