Bad customer service, it was my first time here! And make sure you don't ask for a bag (my mom and I were about to pay saperately because my mom bought them as a gift, but I ended up paying them to make things easier , and when I asked for another bag, the guy told me it costs $1 ) , I was so surprised and I should have payed for it coz I just hated the way he said it !!!!

Tell your staff to take off the dye tags. This is the third time at least one item has had the tag on when I got home. 3 trips has turned into 6. Different staff each time tell them to simply pay attention.

I've lived in Waterloo for 5 years but until this year, I'd never been inside the Roots store at Conestoga Mall. After multiple negative experiences I've had with staff there, I feel that it will be very easy to revert back to my non-Roots-going ways! The store is not that large (in my opinion) but is usually filled with staff. Often, you'll walk in without receiving any greeting. Rude. If you're able to find what you're looking for on your own and decide you'd like to purchase, I hope you're not in a rush! Despite staff members milling about, it usually take 5-7 minutes for one to recognize that yes, you're waiting by the cash register because you want to pay for something! I've also had bad experiences with one particular staff member there. She is incredibly condescending and rude; not a great way to represent the store. I expect friendly, congenial customer service; not a lecture and snide remarks. Thanks.

My child who is a teen was buying dad a gift for bday. The SPC card was presented as you can clearly tell child is a student & cashier rudely asks fir student ID. I ask to speak to manager who is just as rude, like u can clearly tell my child is a student still. Age 13. I was so close to not purchasing a sweater that I’m spending $85 on, because I told manager that my child does not hv ID right now but u can tell a 13 yr old from someone β€œpretending” to be a student? I will never shop at that location again. The discount was given but made it a bad shopping experience. Then they will wonder when the store shuts down bc customers like me would rather shop online then deal with rude customer service.

As a single father shopping for my daughters I felt oddly discriminated by one of the ladies working there. As I asked "where is most of this stuff made?" she replies lazily "Probably in a Chinese sweat shop". I CANNOT even begin to fathom this incredible ignorant statement by that blonde young lady working there. ABOSULTE LUNACY...

Noting what a customer has posted previously about the Roots employees forgetting to take off the security, as I am currently experiencing the same issue. Purchased a pair of pants, got home, and they left the tag on. How is this an issue? Shouldn't this action be second nature? It's pretty annoying to have to go to a store twice (once to buy and once to have the tag removed) before I can wear the $100 clothing article I purchased. Get your employees on it, or don't put tags on the clothing.

Terrible experience trying to exchange a Christmas gift for my daughter for an even cheeper item. As is very normal with gifts I did not have a receipt and the price tag was taken off so as not to show the price of the gift (all other tags were left on). They had the exact same sweater being exchanged in-store to identify the price if needed. All stores tout that they pride themselves in providing great customer service but their true colours are often revealed when they are in a position to actually do so. Everyone has a bad day and maybe that's all this was and does not reflect upon the brand as a whole although based on some of the other reviews I'm not so sure.

I purchased a pair of pants and some socks for my nephew for Christmas. The young lady that helped me was fantastic. My nephew was thrilled but then when he went home, he found the security tag was still on the pants. After reading other comments/reviews; this seems to be a fairly frequent occurrence! Something so simple that should really be rote for any salesperson has caused a lot of problems. I had to bring the pants back, will need to bring them back to the store to get the tag removed and then will have to get them back to my nephew who lives almost two hours away. I wasn’t really that upset until I read that others have had the same problem β€” a problem which should never occur at all. Hopefully this causes some concern to whoever from Roots reads this and may no one else go through this frustration again.
