This is all I will say: Sergio came into our house earlier this year to "fix the furnace" which I believe was working fine. He spent about 3 hours "working on it". I don''t know much about home systems, however the last time i checked the furnace wasn't in our bathroom, where he was working on it. After 3 hours of quiet grunts and little yelps, he came out limping and told us the furnace was now fixed. He shook all our hands and left. and to this day my hand smells like the hudson river

Before I moved in I hadn't yet seen the place, so when I opened our front door for the first time I was pleasantly surprised. This property is very clean and spacious, and extremely well looked after. I have now been living here for a while (3 weeks or so) and can still say I absolutely love it here. All of my house mates have now moved in and we are all really enjoying it here. Thank you so much Varsity for completing our student experience!

Sergio was amazing from the day we met him to tour our unit. He provided a lot of information, was very accommodating to our schedule, and answered all our questions. We loved the unit and have rented it for the upcoming year. Since we have signed the lease, we have had a number of email exchanges with respect to our questions, and Sergio has been prompt in his replies and taking our calls. We are very pleased with the service that he has provided us thus far, and he will be our point of contact for the upcoming year. So excited to move in to our new space.

I spent 2 years living in a Varsity apartment. When we first signed, they were incredibly professional and always doing fun giveaways. They've had major changes in staff and every person that we've spoken with in the past year has been difficult to communicate with. Billing was a nightmare for my housemate for no reason, regardless of countless attempts to solve the issue. When deciding to resign, we had multiple different quotes on what rent would be. When we asked why the variability, one staff member replied "I don't know, I just work here". Rent is ridiculously high and they will take the opportunity to raise it by $200 if someone leaves the lease. Feels a bit like taking advantage of students. On the bright side, their cleaning and repairs team is a wonderful group of people.

PREVIOUSLY VARSITY COMMUNITIES OSHAWA If you value your time, money and energy. Don’t sign a lease at this place: TLDR; disorganized admin, stuck with lease no matter what happens, horrible customer service Once you sign a lease here, you’re stuck. Usually landlords understand if there’s extenuating circumstances and the lease needs to be terminated but with housing, if you need to end your lease for whatever reason (death in the family, moving, unforeseen events), you have to reassign your lease. Which isn’t easy. Finding someone to take over your lease is probably one of the hardest things to do while juggling school and work. On top of that, there’s a reassignment fee which they don’t tell you about and probably won’t return your deposit unless you keep bugging them about it. Nobody told me this place wasn’t pet friendly even though it said that in the ad. Afterwards, I had to take the responsibility of finding another tenant over something that wasn’t even my fault. The admin team is really disorganized, they won’t really handle any inquiries regarding the lease and it’s really hard to get a hold of them. When I had to go pick up my keys, no one was at the office and they weren’t even answering their phone. I had to send them several emails before they could reach out to me. If you need a place to stay, I would recommend renting a place from a landlord (not student housing, especially not this one), and get some roommates. But make sure you discuss and read all the terms signed in the lease.

I've had a great experience with Portsmouth/Varsity's student housing. Sergio is very professional and helpful. From the beginning of the leasing process, he has been highly responsive and attended to all our inquiries and concerns promptly and thoroughly. The housekeeping and maintenance team is also an absolute delight! They are all so friendly, kind-hearted, and personable and they do wonderful work. During midterms, they even surprised my housemates and I with very cute, very thoughtful snack goodie bags. :) Our place is kept in great condition and the complimentary cleaning is definitely appreciated when you have a busy student schedule. Rent is also very reasonable considering the apartment's convenient location, great condition, and charming character. (I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the place is: it's sunny and spacious with high ceilings and dreamy big windows.) I'd recommend Portsmouth/Varsity to anyone - great staff, positive and consistent communication, and beautiful, well-maintained properties!

Portsmouth residential is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. I would not recommend renting from them to my worst enemy. I cannot exaggerate how much trouble they have caused me as well as additional cost. I have lived in the same place for 2 years paying rent on time every month through an automated service. They canceled this and I assume they would just transfer it elsewhere. As I didn’t hear anything about me not paying I assumed all was well. 2 months later I revive an eviction notice on my door saying I have missed 2 months rent. This was news to me as I had no warnings though they have all my contact information. I try to solve and and lo and behold they have all my credit card information and just chose to not charge it and attempt to evict me instead. Most recently they towed my car -it cost $430 to get it back- for parking in an unmarked spot that they apparently own. They told to me inquire about getting a paid parking spot but when I asked they had none available now I am a 10 min walk away from my car for no reason. If I could give these people a lower review I would. If the people were actually in any way helpful this may have been better however I have personally had to deal with Sergio Martinez Kowalski and gotten the worst service possible. He will no longer answer my emails for phone calls. It is incredible unprofessional and he should be fired. I cannot believe anyone can conduct business like this. Surely all of these nice reviews must be fake so I am here to tell you exactly how it is. Moral of the story- if you want a constant headache and to pay insane amounts of money. These are your people. If not RUN THE OTHER WAY. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM
