About Pine Cliff Lodge

Hi! We are Derek and Kara Zimmerman. We’re the proud owners of Pine Cliff Lodge and we’re just crazy enough to bring our three little boys and black lab along for the ride.

As the nephew of former owners Richard and Kaylene Foley, Derek grew up spending summer breaks at Pine Cliff and fell in love with the beautiful, serene, Canadian wilderness. While dating Kara in college, he took a chance and brought her to his secret safe haven. It didn’t take long for her to fall in love with the place too (and with the fishing). She left that trip a fisherwoman, landing her personal best trophy pike and sealing the deal for Derek. From that point on they dreamed about the possibilities of one day owning a place like Pine Cliff Lodge. When it came time for Richard and Kaylene to retire after 25 years of running Pine Cliff Lodge, they sold to Derek and Kara to keep this special gem in the family, to be cared for and operated as a premier lodge for outdoor enthusiasts for many years to come.

We still can’t believe that this is our home. And we can’t wait to share it with you.

So many great memories were made. Being able to unplug (but still respond to emails through the Starlink highspeed internet) was perfect. It was amazing to have such a pristine lake with only guests from the lodge on the water. Felt like we had the whole lake to ourselves. Nothing quite like catching a trophy pike on the fly while a bald eagle circles overhead. We're already planning our next trip!

Just because you're in Canada doesn't mean the fish just jump out of the lake into your net, but Derek thoroughly knows the lake in all seasons and will do everything possible to help you catch fish. We were there early September and targeted Northern Pike and were not disappointed! A fantastic "do it yourself" vacation!

My family and I have gone to Canada fishing for many years now and have found a place that has so much to offer. The boats are in great shape and the cabins are very comfortable. Guaranteed to catch Trophy Northern Pike! Great place to go whether you are a beginner or have been fishing forever!
M	Mike Radabaugh on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thank you Pine Cliff Lodge!! Between the two of us we caught over 200 pike. Many over 30” and quite a few over 34”, including 2- 38” 2- 36” 2-35” 2-3 34”. So many fish!! We talked to almost every guest while we were there and everyone said they were catching many fish and have been going to Pine Cliff for years. One since ‘93. We have been coming since ‘98. All said it’s the best fishing in Ontario. We agree! This was our 1st time in the new boats. And they were great to troll and cast from. If you go, use the tackle they suggest and have in their tackle shop. They work! Beds were very comfortable and the cabins were well supplied with all our needs. Super friendly and kind owners. I hope to be back soon!

One afternoon I landed back to back to back trophy pike and just wish that I had a go-pro camera on my cap to capture the action. The water was so clear that you could see some of the strikes. Our host couple and their family were gracious being both friendly and knowledgeable. I will certainly be back to support them and have fun again! Thank you Derek and Kara!

This was a trip of a lifetime for us and we have already booked for next year, cannot wait! We loved the true log cabin feel. Our moose cabin included a propane grill for cooking and we were shown how to prepare our fish for bringing them back home. You won't find 2 better, nicer, & knowledgeable hosts around! It is so relaxing to see and experience all of the wildlife and natural beauty of Northwest Ontario. We love the cabins and the lake. To me an added bonus is that they have nice equipment so I don't have to worry about bringing my own boat. Derek and Kara (the new owners) make you feel comfortable from when you arrive to when you leave. Cannot wait for next years trip!
