We’ve been serving Calgary from the same location in the Avenida Shopping Centre for over 30 years. Pies Plus Cafe is a family owned business that has been passed on at least once to a new generation of pie makers. Pies Plus Cafe’s claim to fame is its 70 year old double pizza oven and 100 year old commercial pastry mixer. As owner Patrick puts it, “they don’t make ’em like they used too”, and the age of both of these machines is a testament to that statement.
“Their pies are excellent, of course. Light fares are also available (sandwiches, soups). We keep coming back here, and we are never disappointed.”

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Yesterday was my 1st experience at this pie shop. I bought 1 slice peach ? pie & 1 slice Calgary Stampede pie (rhubarb, strawberry ? & cherry ?) to take home & share with my husband. Both kinds were absolutely incredible! The pie crust was super flaky, really the Best Pastry that I’ve ever had, even better than mine ?. I will definitely be back!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One word: CRUST. We'd been craving a good meat or shepherds pie for a few weeks now and this absolutely hit the spot! The filling in our beef pot pie was amazing tasty and tender with flakey crust on top. We followed up with "stampeder pie" for dessert and had the same results: amazing filling with an outstanding crust.
Staff were amazing and helpful, and the atmosphere was cozy and quiet.
This will definitely be a return lunch spot, and where I order my wife's birthday pie from. Well done!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Coconut cream pie is the BEST for summer dessert! It’s a nice compliment to their latte or a hot chai tea latte. Apple Peach pie was also good with loads of fresh fruit fillings inside. The crust were not too flaky or dry, just enough. We would definitely be back for sure to try their MEAT pies!!

They also offer soup, sandwiches and quiche as well if you want a meal before having some of their delicious pies. Friendly staff and ample parking. They also offer take and bake pies or fully cooked pies to take home as well.
