Ottawa Valley Midwives

It was the best experience, I had some complications and they handled it amazingly. I will be using them for all my future children.

We have had two babies with Ottawa Valley Midwives and our experience has been absolutely incredible. All of the Midwives are so caring, personable, and knowledgeable and really make you feel at home when you are in their care. Thank you so much for taking such great care of us and our precious babies.

Both my kids were delivered by Ottawa Valley Midwifes in a hospital. The level of before, during and after care is amazing. They were always available to answer any questions and put my mind at ease. Thank you for taking such great care of my whole family

Three months postpartum and when I think of my experience with the Ottawa Valley Midwives, I get emotional. I had a very traumatic labor (and post- delivery) experience with midwife Kristen, from the beginning to the end. Most of my meetings were with a student midwife and I found Kristen to be absent. I figured since she wasn't my primary midwife, that it was normal. I found out the night I was getting induced that my son was measuring 9lbs. That night, the doctor basically told me she was available to do a c-section and told me to just go ahead and schedule it, saying: 'you are setting yourself up for failure!' after telling her I wanted to try a vaginal birth. This was all while Kristen was standing right there. I was in total shock and disbelief, and was hoping for some type of support or advocacy regarding my decision, but Kristen said nothing. I thought once the doctor walked away, maybe then she would give me some words of encouragement or even comfort me. She did NOTHING. During my labor, I had the urge to push at 7 cm. Following Kristen's advice, I got an epidural. Once that happened, my contraction slow down and my cervix started to regress (went from 7 cm to 4 cm). Her next suggestion was a c-section. She consulted with a doctor, and the doctor agreed after an examination. Before even agreeing to the c-section, Kristen was already in her scrubs. That was so disappointing to see! I could write a long list of disappointing things that occurred afterwards but I won't. I don't know what the worst part for me was: was it when Kristen told the doctor/surgeon that she didn't really know me or was it when she came to me after my c-section and said "I thought you were going to prove me wrong". I'll end with this: I chose Ottawa Valley Midwives after reading all these wonderful comments/reviews and I thought I would get the same quality care, support, and advocacy, but unfortunately, I can't say that I have.

Kristen, Amelie, Tanya and Ali were the most supportive and amazing team of midwives. I felt truly cared for before, during and after the birth of my daughter. I didnt expect to get the amount of support I did when I registered with them. 1000% reccommend. Special shoutout to Karen, the best receptionist I ever met (on the phone at least).

The Ottawa Valley Midwives delivered my son 3 years ago and most recently my daughter. Enough could not be said about these ladies. Amanda, Rachel, Suzanne and Sarah were my team of midwives this time around. Even through Covid, they made me feel extremely comfortable, welcome and were always friendly. I managed to have a successful home delivery with the help of Amanda, Sarah and Saija (and of course, my partner). They were calm, patient and caring throughout my entire labor; and very encouraging when I needed that extra push to deliver my daughter. The aftercare is phenomenal. During my first home visit, Rachel and Sarah went out of their way to deliver bloodwork to the hospital as my daughter was quite jaundiced. They stayed there until the results were given and called us right away. Their attention to detail is also exceptional, as they caught a mistake the hospital made which could have (but thankfully didn’t) resulted in something bad. It was very hard to say goodbye, as my partner and I don’t plan on having more children. Going through pregnancy and birth together is something extremely personal and you develop a great bond to these people. If you are considering being followed by a team of midwives, all I have to say is: go for it! They are amazing and do not get the credit they deserve.

Today was my last followup appointment and I'm almost sad to not be going back. These women are amazing at what they do. I had Rachel, Suzanne and Sarah providing care for me and my little babe. All of them were exceptional, compassionate and caring. They always made sure I was comfortable and my questions were answered, they never rush you. They truly care and you can feel that. I couldn't thank them enough for the experience they gave me and the care they provided. A special thank you to Karen aswell, she is so kind and welcoming, even wearing a mask I could tell she was smiling. I would recommend these wonderful women to anyone who is expecting, I'm so greatful for all of them. Thank you again ladies!

I am posting this review on Behalf of my wife who have birth lately to our second daughter . My wife first experience with pregnancy was not the best. However , On this second pregnancy we went through Ottawa valley midwives. Ali and Tanya prepared my wife mentally throughout the weeks of pregnancy and explained every scenario and made her aware of everything that can happen during pregnancy and during labor . I would like to thank Ali for her great job during labor and delivery. Ali made the labor go smoothly. I did not expect to be this easy . I really appreciate her effort accommodating my wife needs. Ali were there whenever we needed her to answer our questions and concerns Moreover, I would like to thank Tanya for her mental support during the weeks of pregnancy. Big thanks to Tanya for her visit to the hospital to check on us and the baby . Finally , I would like to thank Amanda for her great help during the labor and delivery.
