O'Neil Tower - Calgary

My time living in this building was a good experience. It's safe, in a nice location and the recent renovation had a good effect on the esthetics of the common areas. More than anything, O'Neill tower has wonderful staff. In particular, the guys at the lease office, Mirkko and Elisa, are the most helpful and friendly people I ever dealt with at any place I lived. They definitely make the difference and are the main reason why I give a positive review

Update: They will shut off the water twice to three times a month with less than 24hrs notice at times. Also hot water isn't always available. I am very well kept and homey person but I cannot get over how terrible the repair service is in this building. I use to love Boardwalk but this building really just does not know how to do anything. We complained about your dishwasher not working for a month, it took 2 more months to get it replaced and then the repair staff who installed it messed it up so it flooded our apartment. As I am an architect I was very concerned about moulds growing under the floor and in our baseboards so they offered to replace all of the baseboards. We also though we should get some money for what happened. We got $150 basically a slap in the face. It took another month to get the base boards and the flooring redone. The flooring contractors were fantastic very nice guys and knew what they were doing. The repair staff who were in charge of replacing our baseboards spent 20 min arguing with me that they do not need replacing. I told him the office said they would replace them and he continued to argue with me. He only replaced the ones he thought were damaged and did such a terrible job and damaged the walls and made the our carpets dirty (which I asked them to clean, and they did not). This just a small example of the level of service you get from the repair staff. On another insident the same guy that flooded our apartment could not even fix our window that would not close, and said it could not be fixed. We complained and the next guy fixed it in 5 min. The area is sketchy as hell, tons of homeless people will hassel you, are pissing on the side of the building, doing drugs. I don't feel safe sometimes leaving the apartment at night. They leave the front door unlocked so people can have access to the buzzer but the buzzer rarely works so I do not know why they just don't lock both door. I will post a picture of complaint left in the laundry room by another tenant also. The views are amazing and the location is amazing but I think we will be looking to move else where when our lease is up.

I absolutely have loved renting here. The staff is by far the best. Recently we found out we are expecting a baby and have looked to move within boardwalk from a one bedroom to a two bedroom and the staff within my building have been nothing but so helpful with the lease transfer process. After having a really negative experience and being denied trying to get into another building the staff here have been helping us find a place that will take us before baby arrives in April and I honestly couldn’t be more grateful for their help in this stressful time.

Update I would like to thank Mr. Manish Angl and O'Neil Tower community coordinators to fix my below problem Old review : They are the worst ever. We have lived for 6 months. At the exit, they took a lot of money, without any right . They reviewed the apartment and said that it is good and no need for fix . Then they surprised us by the extra payment of $ 275 for apartment maintenance! They didn't tell us these details until we got out. They took a thousand dollars because we broke the contract. They told us at checkout that the monthly rent was reduced and we had to pay an additional 630 dollars.

I moved into the oneil tower 2 days ago, and I would love to thank all the staff (especially AJ) so much for your help! I ask like 300 questions a day and she's always happy to answer and sooo so helpful. she made my move in process as easy as possible, She goes above and beyond! Give her a raise, she deserves it!! I'm overly impressed with the staff here, you've exceeded my expectations and I cant thank you enough for making is move as easy and comfortable as possible!!! Keep up the good work!

I had a really nice friendly consultation with AJ. She's extremely professional and the friendliest manager I've ever met. The building is newly renovated, secured well, and most importantly has a nice city view. I strongly recommend to making a viewing appointment if you are looking for a new reasonable suite.

The interior of the actual rooms is really nice, the electrical could be done up a bit better but the nice balcony and windows really helps the limited lighting. There seems to be a great deal of bedbug infestations in this building, and while the treatment response has been thorough and serious, it's taken an additional week longer than was initially stated to me and I am getting very tired of living my life with everything in bags. The treatments are quite short and generally happen during work hours, and the building pays for them so they aren't as invasive as other reviews suggest, but packing up belongings really sucks. The Tennis court is a mess of broken glass, and not accessible to tenants without a security guard to open it. (Or so the security seemed to tell me, I'd really like an answer on this one.) The Sauna has also been broken for what I'm told is several months, which I could care less for if it wasn't an incentive for the rent to be what it is. Building staff is a mix, some are extremely helpful and friendly, others are cold, condescending and distant. Particularly I'd like to shout out to the maintenance staff who are prompt, effective and very helpful with any maintenance requests! :) Overall; a lot of nice amenities and a good suite layout give this place a lot of potential, especially in light of its good location, but unfortunately some managerial issues regarding the mentioned amenities really hold this place back. If things improve in the coming months I will gladly re-assess my review.

TLDR - Its a good building to live in if you are accustomed to apartment living in a high rise building. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have been living here for over a year now and I have enjoyed my stay. This building has polarized ratings so I decided that I will keep updating my review (and my rating) over the course of the next 12 months in hope it helps anyone looking to rent an apartment in this building. Pros : many (see pictures). I wont note these as I am not sales, and people usually use cons as a parameter to make decisions Cons : fire alarm testing can be a difficult exercise if you live high up; Garage security was beefed up only a few months back but it could still use some more upgrade; Check for noise from the train as this might disrupt or annoy your stay. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
