Friendly, helpful and accomodating staff that went above and beyond for every aspects of our stay. Can't wait to stay there again for our next trip in Victoria. 5 min away from downtown and the water, calm and safe neighbourhood. The rooms were large and very comfortable.

A historic building in a perfect part of town if you're sightseeing. The staff here were some of the friendliest I've ever interacted with, they made the trip perfect. The rooms are missing several amenities you'd expect in a hotel room, but since the whole point is to stay in a historic building, I don't fault them for that at all. Just prepare accordingly so you have all you need!

We really enjoyed out stay here. The staff is very nice. We got a standard queen room, and it was very spacious. Everything was clean and charming. It is a bit older, so noise travels a bit, but nothing annoying. It is also a short walk to lots of downtown attractions and the park. Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Victoria!

It is a 3 star hotel so not fancy but staff very good. Hotel is clean. Good pillows and bed. Bathroom not newest but very good water pressure. Wish they had coffee maker in room but they do make every morning in lobby at 5am. Would stay again happily. Good location

Stayed here April 2022 for a little 4 night getaway in Victoria. To be honest, the price point was what initially drew me in, but I ended up quite impressed with the hotel itself. I stayed on the third floor in one of the king-size bed rooms, and while I can't speak for the other room options offered, mine was very nice for the price. Comfortable bed, decent sized (cozy!) room, and nice bathroom as well. I could see it possibly getting a little hot in the room during the summer months, but it was perfect during this time of the year, and they have a fan in the room if you need it. There's no coffee maker or anything in the room, but they have plenty downstairs every morning, as well as a pub and a restaurant below the lobby. Beautiful lobby with antique furnishings, and while there is no elevator (understandable given the age of the building), the lack of one is more than made up for by the similarly decorated stairway, which felt kind of fun to go up and down (but keep that in mind if you have serious mobility issues). Really neat added value with the historic feel of the place if you're interested in that sort of thing. You won't find anything as nice at this price point, or even in a place that's a bit more expensive, especially given the hotel's very convenient location. I'll definitely be looking to stay here again on a future trip.

This has to be one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at! The hotel was very charming and welcoming! The staff were AMAZING!! They were very personable and helpful, they gave us ideas on what to do while we were in Victoria. The rooms were amazing! The decor in the hotel was beautiful! Felt like I went back in time, it was awesome! 10/10 would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Victoria! While definitely be back!

I stayed here with my partner for our anniversary. The location was fantastic, we walked to the restaurant for dinner by the harbour. The vibe of this place is absolutely adorable, vibrant colours and vintage decor. The bed was so comfortable, and everything was very clean. The best part of the stay was the kindness and professionalism of the front desk staff named Hedy. His positive attitude and helpfulness made our morning, and his sense of humour made us laugh. Highly recommend!

A charming hotel. The rooms are lovely and the decor is rich in colour and character. Such a pleasure to stay and the staff are so helpful. Three blocks from the Parliament buildings in a beautiful neighbourhood that looks like you've just stepped back into the Victorian Era. The James Bay Inn is 110 years old, so you can overlook that there is no elevator, and that the floors can seem slightly uneven. I hope they never change those things. We went downstairs for breakfast in their great restaurant that has an Art Deco flair. Very good food at a very reasonable price. Only good things to say all around.
