I found myself in the Thornhill area last week and was in need of an emergency skate sharpening. Searched and found out about Fisher Sports. Brent did a great job on the skates and you can tell that he has a passion for his craft. Will definitely go back as a regular.

Phenomenal experience. Very friendly service and fantastic skate sharpening! Went to get my brand new skates sharpened at a very busy period. By the time my skates were being sharpened there were at least another half dozen in line. Regardless, they emphasized the importance of spending the time to properly sharpen new skates and did so with care and precision. Definitely recommend. EDIT (as of Dec 2021): All the above still stands

In Dec 2018, I was told by the guys sharpening skates at Majer Hockey that I needed to change my blades because they were the aluminium fusion blades that came with my MX3 skates (top of the line skates). I had previously jumped around and the last time I had them sharpened by Play it Again Sports on Bathurst - the problem was that these guys use an automated machine to do so. After getting new LS2 blades ($79.99) from Majer Hockey, I asked if I should profile them. They said no. I went back 7 times in the next 2 months and they finally made them so sharp that when I tried to stop...I nearly went head first into the boards. I went everywhere: Scotiabank Pond, Majer Hockey, Play It Again, and then Chesswood. The guy there (Mark) was pretty good. Did an above average job but, I'm really good with my edges and I still noticed that everytime I was slowing down to stop to finish my shift; that even an ice pimple would cause me to stutter step and nearly fall. I then finally bit the bullet and went to Just Hockey at Don Mills and was recommended to profile my blades. So I did it (approximately $40) and they needed 2 days. It wasn't bad but, I still had issues with small bumps on the ice. I still had problems with being able to pull sharp turns or hard stops. Something was completely off and it ruined my confidence on the ice for months. So; I did some digging and finally found Fisher Sports. I read ALL the reviews and was skeptical about the perfect rating. I told Brent (owner) about my past history and what I went through and he recommended against: 1) profiling it again, and 2) changing the blade just yet. His average sharpening is a 1/2" I believe but it's definitely a lot better than other places. The first time I went to him he noticed right away several things: front and back skate blades were shaved off too much - hockey players don't need it shaved off, he noticed that one of my blades was bent, he noticed that one blade was shorter than the other, and that the sharpenings were not evened out. That's on my first visit!! He said to that he would work out all the kinks but it takes trial and error and on the 4th try; I asked him to give me a bit more sharper edge: 7/16's. Wow. Like WOW. Finally! Someone got it right after blowing so much money to get it right. Brent is so committed, dedicated, hard-working, honest, in providing excellence every single time. Brent is truly the "Rolls Royce" of skate sharpening (for hockey skates). His hours are based on the skating club and hockey clubs and it's not a central location (Bayview Ave and John St) but I'm not going anywhere else - so long as he's there. I challenge anyone to find a guy that does the job better than him.

The worker was very nice and had lots of knowledge about skates and skate sharpening. Brought in two pairs of skates to get sharpened and both were very well done. Quick service. Definitely coming back!

My girlfriend and I got our skates sharpened here today. We were going to go to Sport Chek or Canadian Tire. But my girlfriend told me that these places do not sharpen skates well. As I did my own research I came across Fisher Sports. The person knew right away that my skates were new! On top of that he was a really friendly guy. From now on I'll only be coming here to get my skates sharpened!

Been going here all my life to get my skates sharpened. I can’t believe they are shutting down. I have no clue where I can go now to get my skates sharpened. This place was the best you couldn’t beat it. Owner knows all the guys that come in by name and best sharpening you will ever get. Love the place sad to see it close.
