Ellerslie Gift & Garden is not a box store or a franchise. We are a one of a kind, independent, family-owned business known as one of Edmonton’s most delightful destinations. We began as the dream of Ruth and Don Younie, who first opened our doors in 1990. Armed with a twinkle in their eyes, beaming smiles and a sincere interest in people, that initial passion and proud tradition has resonated through the Garden Centre for over 25 years. As the years passed Ruth felt the desire to see Ellerslie endure and continue to grow, and so she made the decision to entrust the business to new hands, beginning a new chapter in the summer of 2012 with Classic Landscapes.
After many years of friendship, and operating as neighbours, the timing was right and seemed meant to be when only a short time later Ruth passed away unexpectedly. Ruth’s joy of nature lives on throughout the greenhouses, displays, and with all of our enthusiastic, knowledgeable staff. As a key member of the Classic Family we are excited to share all of our treasures with you. Along with the Classic Landscape Centre, Tree Farm, Advantage Vinyl Fencing, and Canadian Tree Care, we enjoy delivering a truly unparalleled level of expertise while providing an assortment of unique plants and decor in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Since our inception we have continued to build and grow, beautifully framed in against the backdrop of the Blackmud Creek Ravine, easily accessed from Calgary Trial with acres of free parking.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The new location is quite big. They have variety of different plants ranges from herbs to pennials to trees. Friendly staff. Tons of parking spaces.
I would like to see more different specific peonies, different types of flowers and more herbs. I find that sherwood park locations offer way more varieties and better prices.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Before you purchase any indoor plants, make sure they are not sick. Because they cannot be returned even they were sick when you bought it. The plant I bought has so many little tiny spiders and went back checked all this plant they have in store have this issue. What they recommend is that you purchase a $20 spray they have and try to save the plant yourself. Wow. Lol. The experience at old location was good. Not sure what happened after they moved.

I love tropical plants and find the selection and health of the plants to be of superior quality. Personally, I have found their prices to be generally reasonable for the quality. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and it is nice to shop at a store that values customer service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Entry to new location is tenuous, unpaved, and extremely limited in parking; handicapped parking and a ramp are available, but the lot is unpaved clay covered in mucky chip pebbles, so wheelchairs be-warned. On the day I visited, staff drastically out-numbered patrons yet not a single one offered any assistance, greeting, nor acknowledgment of my existence whatsoever (management should reconsider relying ENTIRELY on its darling seasonal staff for good client-relations and up its year-round game). I was also disappointed to find the soils of tropical plants bug-ridden. Paying extra here is NOT worth the hassle.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I bought indoor plants/succulents and herbs from here a couple summers ago. Both indoor plants were infested with mites and unfortunately I had to throw them both away. Such a shame because they were gorgeous and not cheap either. The basil and rosemary were OK, the rosemary grew very fast

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I really enjoyed my time here. The name says it all. Although I would put garden first. I have been here several times and am always impressed with the service and selections. The staff is friendly and helpful. The store is well lit and clean. The best part is just being in the midst of plants and flowers and shrubs. I would definitely recommend coming here for a great selection of greenery and gifts.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I forgot their name they were amazing people. I ordered 2 jasmine plants from them and the staff was very kind and patience with my questions. When I came in to pick up the plants, the kind lady, wanted to protect my plant from the cold and so she wrapped them perfectly. Will go there again not to mention the price was affordable and the store was super comfortable and warm ?
