I needed to renew the paper for Russian Pension Fund. For this you just need to come to the consulate with documents and the give you this paper for free. 5 minutes business. I tried before to schedule appointment but waiting time is about 5 months, which is ridiculous. My friend recommended to use emergency appointment, cause my previous paper already expired. She said sometimes they have appointments , previously cancelled. That’s what I did. On the web site I didn’t found any information regarding emergency appointments. So, I came to the consulate to scheduled time and not found my name on the list of visitors. I called to internal telephone and explained the situation, that I am here and get appointment scheduled to renew my paper for pension fund, because its already expired. They told me that they will not serve me, because they not consider this as emergency. Then I ask What the F? Why there’s no information on the web site, describing emergency matters? Still I had 15 minutes reserved for me and they could help me with that. But they refused. I lost the whole day because of they incompetence.these guys don’t like to work. Welcome to Russian bureaucracy.

Hours clearly state 12-3PM; arrived in the afternoon before 1:00 PM was refused any help, was told off they are closed. Although it is appointment only, the calendar in their website doesn't allow you to select dates and time. I had to show up since I could never have anyone answer my emails or return my call for over a month. ____________________________ Once I arrived I was advised by a person through the eclectic doorbell that it is appointments only. I explained I was unable to book an appointment due to the issues with their calendar on the website; it has been over a month of me calling and emailing prior this visit and no one is getting back to me. I repeated what he said earlier and hung up on me. I rang the doorbell once again asking if he could help me book an appointment since I am already here and was advised he is just a concierge and he doesn't book appointments. I asked one of the employees, who happen to be coming in and out of the door, what options I have. The blond woman advised it is not her job to consult me and told me off once again after I asked if she could connect me with someone who could possibly help since I have been struggling with getting the paperwork done for a long time. She kept telling me I could find help online but did not say anything specific. After I explained my situation and told her I am unable to book an appointment she mentioned they are closed, and I wont get any help, and shut the door in my face, when I tried arguing and saying the hours listed online suggest otherwise. I kept ringing the bell hoping to get someone to speak to me once again as I got really frustrated with everyone being rude and unwilling to help or give directions. My attempts of course failed as the security approached me and asked me to stop ringing the doorbell. ------------------------------------------------- It was such a humiliating experience. I am out of words! It was easier for whoever works there to threaten me with security instead of doing their job.

Russian General Consulate is The best Russian government office I've even been in. Top standards in everything, excellent accuracy with the documents and prompt responses on phone/email. We applied for passport for our little daughter and now she can see her grandparents. Many thanks to the people who works in this office!

I can say only good things about Russian Consulate in Toronto. Probably coming here at least 1-2 times a year and every time it's so well organized, people working there are very kind and humane. Maybe their email respond is not prompt, but that's understandable due to limited resources. But I always get a follow up call in a very timely manner with the update on the documents and gentlemen on the phone is very professional and trying his best to help! Btw this year I needed urgently to apply for passport for my little son and they went above and beyond to speed up the process. I think people giving 1 star review are just having unfortunate personal experience or mistakes in the paperwork.

Tried calling the Consulate with a question regarding my passport application on Friday Nov-0521 about TWENTY TIMES between 12 noon and 3 PM. Nobody was picking up the phone. If I waited long enough to hear the voice mail greeting, the connection was powered off right after the beep that prompts you to start recording the message. I later learned they were closed due to Russian holidays, but I wish there would have been some kind of a message about this on their phone system.

I'm sorry to say, but I must admit I expected more from this organization given that we live in modern times. It’s simply not realistic to get through to them, and if someone picked up the phone, they say that they don’t answer questions by phone, then why indicate contacts at all. Emails are answered with a delay of a month. The site is very old, nothing works. Just a shame! Hope for further progress.

Terrible Customer Service. You call them, they don't provide any updates but tell you to write. You write to them and they don't answer. It takes 2+ years to get paperwork from them. They collect money but don't provide service. Canada can print passport within 1 weeks. Russian Consulate sends paperwork using pigeons or by a raft. Terrible.
