Premium king with ocean view on the top floor has a stunning view of the water, boats and mountains. Beautiful bright room with chair and chaise and love that there was water in the fridge for us to make coffee/ tea. Walk across the street to enjoy the harbour

This place is amazing and I did not want to leave! The staff are super friendly and kind and personable especially the ladies on the day time shift and evening shift. They are very accommodating and helpful. They remember your name and are very nice people. The room itself has the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in and I slept really well. The room had the sweetest view I have ever seen out towards the Nanaimo harbour (I didn't not know that Nanaimo had such a sweet inner harbour area). It was so quiet and peaceful but you could hear the seagulls in the harbour all evening and morning which was so sweet. The room is spacious and well thought out. Everything was perfect and I would go back in a heartbeat.

We spent 1 night in the King suite with jetted tub, which has a view of the ocean and Nanaimo harbor. Terrific suite! The tub is oversized, more than big enough for 2 persons, the jets worked fine, and you can see the ocean from inside the tub! They supply nice robes, and there's a mini fridge & coffee and tea in the room. It's truly a special hotel room, and certainly one of the most spectacular ones on Vancouver Island. Just a note about parking: it's $9 overnight, and the parking garage is around the corner and just down the next street. You take an elevator from the garage to a walkway which leads to the hotel lobby.

I booked the standard room for the long weekend - and at first glance everything seemed great. Check-in was hassle free and friendly - but the room itself, was pretty bare bones. Decent view for sure, but other and that we got a basic chair - while all the other coast standards had comfy seating with armrests. It was as if they threw in our chair at the last minute to complete the decor. There was no drinking water (they don't provide bottled water) which means the water you do drink has to come from the bathroom tap or paid for from a vending machine. TV was not a smart TV. Small gripe I know but really, even budget hotels now have drinking water and smart TVs. None of these were deal breakers - however, the spots of blood on the bedding were. The lady who did housekeeping on the day was very kind and replaced the bedding BUT - the replacement bedding also had blood spots, bigger this time. This really was unacceptable for ANY hotel much less one that includes in their description that they take their cleaning seriously. There was also a squashed Nanaimo bar underneath the bed... and while I appreciate the local flavour, this was not how I wanted to encounter it. I don't know why the hotel has so many positive reviews online - but from my perspective it does not deserve its reputation for the level of quality you are receiving.

Great place to stay and very pet friendly. Me, my girlfriend and dog stayed a couple nights at the Coast Bastion Hotel in Nanaimo. The room has a great AC which was perfect for our double coated dog. The housekeeping staff were also very considerate asking if we needed more coffee when we requested our room not be cleaned. Our dog got a treat every time he passed by the front desk, by the end of it he was expecting treats. Would highly recommend especially for dog owners.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. Given there is not much hotel selection in Nanaimo, we were glad to have picked this place as things worked out pretty well. The staff was extremely friendly on every encounter. It would be ideal if they could bundle the $9/night parking into the room package price, because so many other hotels offer free parking.

After a very friendly, informative & welcome greeting we entered our room 1511 to find a very spacious, clean, bright & inviting room! Well maintained with great conveniences like a large 50” positionable LG TV, fridge, coffee maker, alarm clock, iron/ironing board, luggage rack, king bed & lounge chairs! Very comfortable furniture! The bathroom is very large with huge counter & tub/shower combo. The view from this room is amazing as well, overlooking the water, trees full of blossoms etc. We are conveniently just blocks from a shopping center as well. Close by you can walk to the water, the Port Theatre and the Military Museum! Very happy with our stay & will definitely return!

Everything was so clean and beautiful. The views are incredible. I wish there was a pool, but the bed and bedding are really comfortable and it made up for no pool. I would stay there again and recommend it to anyone else. Added bonus is the location, ocean front and in the heart of the arts district. Could wander for hours taking it all in.
