★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I called Hamilton Animal Service at 6:54pm on August 9th. The dispatcher was extremely rude, she seems annoyed with the call.
5 starts for the officer that came to help on Confederation Beach, she was super nice and did a great job.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am so happy with today's experience with City of Hamilton Animal Services. They made an extremely difficult decision to give up my dog very easy. Charleen was so compassionate and understanding of my unique circumstances, made a huge effort to get as much information about my dog as possible, and helped me set an appointment. When I arrived the staff were all friendly, capable, and understanding, and made a sad process very smooth. My dog was immediately introduced to one of the staff's gorgeous dogs and the staffer even said "*I* may take your dog home with me!".
When HSPCA said they were full this morning and gave me the number for animal services I was expecting cold, calculating government, concrete kennels, and sad pets on their way to the incinerator. What I found instead were loving, compassionate, and wonderful people who had worked there for decades, loved animals, had total understanding and experience with the struggles of life and pet ownership, and I was able to drop off my sweet girl with tears but also comfort as well. Thank you.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There was a stray cat in my neighbourhood since March, I left food for the cat outside so he wouldn't starve. I called Hamilton Animal Services to rescue the cat on April 13th, but the man on the phone said: "if you have been feeding the cat, it is your responsibility".
I had no intention of adopting this cat, but I didn't want to see him die. So I treated all the injuries, did the tests and gave him vaccines out of my own pocket and brought him home. As it's difficult to completely separate the stray from my other cats in the house, my other cats got worms from this cat.
City of Hamilton Animal Services is not doing their jobs. Collecting money is their only interest, they want no responsibilities.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On April 12th, I contacted Hamilton's Animal Services about a skunk that had been severely injured by a motor vehicle. The skunk managed to crawl under a parked car in front of 47 Melbourne Ave. I didn't have my phone and quickly returned home to retrieve it. I returned to the scene to find the animal still under the sedan. I called Animal Services and got through instantly. An agent arrived in minutes. He was ever so gentle and retrieved the skunk in a minute. I knew the creature would have to be put down. I thanked the agent for his job, one of the most difficult for those of us who love animals. Many thanks to Hamilton's Animal Services dedicated and caring staff.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Where I working, a raccoon was on the deck... Next day he was still there... Making me wonder! I started watching him, I could see him being disoriented, back and forth on the rail. Called the City, 30-40 minutes later they came... The officer knew something was wrong... Caught him in 2 minutes... Great job.. Wishing him well
(Raccoon!).
