Very fast and quick service. They did not push me to buy extra insurances. Liked the dropping in facility too.

Someone at the location manually charged my credit card over $1200- three weeks before my reservation. Someone with access to their POS system has been skimming credit cards- my card was comprised and money refunded only after a Visa fraud investigation. I will never book here again.

Some individuals are not suited for customer-facing positions. Especially if being pleasant to others doesn’t come naturally. I’m hoping for the sake of others and the company that I just caught her on a β€œbad” day. I travel often (~130 flights & over 90 car rentals per year) and interact with pleasant service associates that are happy to help. So I was taken off-guard today by not one .....but two extremely unpleasant interactions. I’ve never had a sales associate: 1) speak to me in a condescending manner 2) insult my intelligence and ability to follow along during the explanation of the rental agreement (which I’ve done over 100 times) 3) delay my rental process by stopping the contract explanation half way (see reason above) 4) insist I walk back out into a rain storm to collect analytics from the vehicle (which the company representative needs to collect and I have never been required to provide at this location) 5) refuse to provide me with an invoice It’s safe to say I will no longer book car rentals with Budget when visiting Nanaimo. Attacking customers verbally when they have not provoked this response is unacceptable.

They hid a charge of $139 on my rental agreement which was not charged until after returning my car. After calling customer care they refused to refund the charge because of the signed agreement, despite the fact that it was different to the verbal agreement. Won't be renting through Budget again.

Budget made a horrible experience so much better for us. We booked with hertz, but when we arrived at the airport the Hertz guy had closed and left, leaving us stranded without a vehicle and forced to forfeit (And pay for) our reservation. The young man at budget was so kind and friendly making a very stressful situation much better for us. He gave us a upgraded car for our 3 kids, pulled it up for us, helped load up our kids and luggage and sent us on our way. Customer service was AMAZING!! Never rent from HERTZ in Nanaimo- budget is the BEST!!

We needed a large car so we ordered a full sized car a week in advance. I called after making the reservation to confirm that they would have it. They said it would be no problem since I made the reservation early enough. My husband was to land at 6pm the following week and pick up the car. I called that morning to ensure the correct car would be available due to all our luggage and 4 people. They confirmed that I would have a full sized car and said that it will be "waiting for us." When my husband landed, the only car available was a small car. He collected the car and left. Given our circumstances, this car would not work. We were able to trade this car in at another location later in the week. But given that I needed to go to Budget a total of 3 times to get the car I reserved and called about, I was not happy. When I called the Nanaimo office to let them know about the mix up, I made a point to be polite since it was not her fault. However, I was met with indifference. Fortunately the Parksville office was more sympathetic and told me they would get me the larger car that I needed. I realize mix ups occur, and not every employee is going to represent your company well, but in my case I had both occur.

Fastbreak customers - beware that the staff won't check your tank before processing your bill and will automatically charge you for fuel. There are no attendants in the lot and despite explaining that we'd just filled the tank on the way to the airport, the counter agent still charged us without checking the tank (or letting us review the bill before leaving the counter). $70 fuel charge on a Mazda 3 that was full of fuel. After a few calls and emails they did refund us the $70 which we appreciated but what if we hadn't checked the bill that was emailed to us after leaving the airport?

Would not recommend the β€œMystery Car”, sounded like a fun quirky way to rent a car, ended up with an old minivan without any backup cameras. Looks like they just give you the oldest car in the lot. Ew.
