The airport needs a longer runway so we can get more direct flights to anywhere
It really sucks big time to have to travel to Vancouver first and wait for connectors. THIS ADDS HOURS .
PLEASE TELL ME THIS WILL CHANGE SOON !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The airport was clean and organized. The staff were friendly and efficient. They had charging stations with multiple connection options on the seating which was very convenient.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Regional airport serving Nanaimo and the Mid-Isle region. Has been expanded and redeveloped to bring in jet traffic during the summer months.
Has a small coffee and souvenir shop in the main building. The main building isn't of a significant size with a small baggage area.
Bags are tagged at the counter but you will have to take it to the X-Ray machine for it to be checked.
Passenger lounge is modern and comfortable. No concessions other than a few snack and drink machines.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ From a general aviation pilot perspective, nice airport but not too general aviation friendly unless one is based on the field.
There is little information as to where to park light aircraft for either short or long term. Online shows "flex" parking along the north edge of the terminal apron but apparently this is only available with prior permission. It is difficult to find our not only that permission is required, but who to contact to obtain this "authorization".
There is a nice little coffee shop in the terminal with outside seating available.

Such a great little airport with staff who actually care.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Every staff member I interacted with was amazing! It's a small airport so things are a little different than the major centers.
The airport is clean and mostly well organized.
The only issue I experienced was figuring out where to go to get to Security after doing a mobile check-in and having no checked baggage. But again, a staff member pointed us in the right direction.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The nicest airport I've ever been in. Small and cozy but departure lounge is clean and spacious. Wifi and charging stations work well. All of the staff are incredibly kind and friendly. Some of the best views from a departure lounge. The only thing it needs is a craft beer bar&grill. After security it's only vending machines.
