Wonderful customer service and great selection of stationary products. Love that you can buy fountain pen ink samples and bring home to try.

Came in to buy a gift, the manager was very nice and spent a lot of time with me to choose the best options for my budget, very good service. Store is well stocked with tons of options.

TLDR: staff improperly bottled ink sample, causing it to shatter on opening and spilling ink all over hands, floor and carpet. We used to have nothing but great things to say about Buchan's and it was one of our favourite places for stationery and writing goods. However, after our last experience, it's hard to say when we will come back. The poor service this time around resulted in a costly and permanent stain to our flooring and carpet. We came into the store to purchase a few things, among them three ink samples. It seemed like the stars aligned to make so many things happen poorly at the same time. The staff have been great at this store, but this time around, we had a poor experience with the two young ladies who helped us with our samples. The first of them loudly and openly talked about how the ink “looked like piss” to her coworker while filling the ink sample. Now, normally this would not be something to make a fuss out of, but it turns out there was more in store for us. When we got home, we found out a few more things about the ink samples we purchased. - They were labelled improperly, so we were not able to tell which ink was which. One was labelled with just the brand of the ink ("Shikiori"), but not the actual color name ("Shikiori Sakura-mori") and the other was labelled with the brand + the generic word 'orange' ("Shikiori Orange", but was supposed to be "Shikiori Yu-yake"). This made it very difficult to tell which ink was which. - The second young lady who helped us with two of the three samples 1) somehow cross contaminated the inks (we suspect the syringe was not rinsed between samples) and 2) improperly bottled the ink vials. The first of the two was not stoppered at all, causing a complete mess in the bottle cap, and the second ink vial had a stopper but the stopper was only put in halfway and the bottle cap not screwed fully (a recipe for a spill - which thankfully did not happen). - What did happen, however, was that the half-stoppered, incorrectly bottled ink sample caused the vial to shatter on opening (we're amazed that this was even physically possible, but there is a stain to show for it). When we tried to remove the stopper, the bottom of the vial suddenly shattered, spilling the ink onto our floor and carpet. We have tried to reach out to the store through their email, but have yet to receive any response.

Lots of good selection of fountain pen inks, notebooks and pens. They sell smaller vials of fountain pen inks if you want to try out a colour without having to buy a full bottle. Staff are friendly and helpful.

If you have a stationary fetish then this place has some good variety for you.

I love this store. They have tons of cards for everything from birthdays to religious celebrations. They have fancy wrapping paper, beautiful notebooks and pens, a wide variety of napkins, party plates and calendars. There is also a lot of other neat little items that you don't need but end up buying.

I thought I already left a review, so this is long over due. By far my favourite ink dealers in town. ? It's a place that tests the limits of my self-discipline. One of the most extensive collection of inks and best price in town(I know, I go all over). Staff member who helped me was so sweet! Swatch book didn't have the new ink I wanted to see so she swatched 3 inks for me. And they also have the best swatchbook in town! Like a bible or art!
