Big Al's Aquarium Supercentres

Nit impressed with the store as I was totally given the wrong item. I was taking care of a friend's fish tanks and the girl who answered the phone set aside a product that was suppose to help with brown algae in the newly set up tanks. I was given the wring product all together which pi**** me off as these were no my tanks. This could if been so bad just thinking about what could have happened. I returned the product the following day and was given the proper product in exchange. I was told by a employee that the young ladies answering the phones should NOT be recommending any products to customers. I'm grateful I got the right product and lost 1 Platti a few days later, thats a whole lot better than loosing her hole tank. A mistake that could of been a lot worse..

Of all the Big Al’s I’ve been to this one has THE worst service. How they remain in business is beyond me. I tried to buy a stand months ago, and was told it had to be ordered in. They would call me when it arrived. Weeks later nobody called because they hadn't ordered it and they didn’t know anything about it. At the second attempt they once again wrote down my name and number on “their list” and I was told the same thing. Again, no phone call, no stand, no service, and no answers. I ended up driving down to Vaughan because they had it in stock and bought it there. They even helped me load it up. Now I want to buy a 150 gallon reef tank and have it delivered. I know exactly what I want because I saw it at Big Al’s in Thornhill on the showroom floor. Nobody in the Barrie location could tell me how much it was, or what delivery might cost and I just needed a way to get it home. I was told “the guy” who could answer me wasn’t in but would be the next day. Well, when I arrived, during the time I was told to be there, “the guy” had stepped out but would be back later. It's bad business when there's only one guy who can tell me a price and he's never there. Again, no tank, no service, no answers, and no sales. At this point I’d be happy to pay ANYBODY ELSE, whatever they want because I’m disgusted by Big Al’s in Barrie. They’ve lost over $2000 in sales (plus maybe an additional $2000+ in other tank needs). They forget that Tropical Gems in Barrie has everything they do and MORE. They have SERVICE and are always very helpful when I’m in there. Good bye Big Al’s…. It’s time to find a new fishing hole, you're not worth my time and money anymore.

Completely unfriendly staff and not helpful. Fish tanks where not nice to look at either lots of algae. Prices are super high in comparison to Newmarket big Al's. Not worth going here. Newmarket big Al's won't let you down!

Came in for some advice and their team was amazing much better then a local competitor. Their staff are very knowledgeable and don’t mind answering all the questions you might have. Prices are fair and reasonable.

Had a great experience today at Big Al's Barrie! Being a first time fish buyer, it was helpful that all staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Evan helped us pick out all our fish and he showed us excellent customer service. ??

Huge selection of fish, lots of cool tank accessories and friendly staff. Nikki helped us with every question we had, gave us great ideas and even was able to answer axolotl questions. I’m a axolotl owner so it was nice to find someone who has knowledge on them. Over all great selection and will DEFINITELY be back!??

Always have what we are looking for. I believe it was Mark who helped us yesterday. We needed something to clear up our ponds. He was super informative and helpful. We got what he recommended and it's already working! Not 1 fish was floating when I checked thus morning! Great staff, fair prices and it's a nice store to walk around in. Everything is clean and well organized

Clean store, large selection, helpful staff. I've attached my aquarium build to this review. Bought everything from the store except the 10 gallon tank. I would have given them 5 stars but their prices are bit higher than the online stores, specifically Amazon. I wanted to support local however so I bought with them. I would recommend this store for your aquarium needs.
