Turns out there was nothing wrong with my bike...but with the way I was changing gears. I actually ended up paying less than the original quote. This will now be my regular bike shop in Tsawwassen.

John was really busy, but took the time to take a look at his bike with no notice. He was able to diagnose the issue and provide a temporary fix so we could make it home. Friendly and helpful!

I provided a type written list of tasks when dropping my less than two year old bike. Despite this my bill was nearly double the original quote with charges for work not requested. To add insult to injury I had to return my bicycle several times for follow up adjustments on work paid for but not done correctly. On my last visit for follow up work I was presented a bill for newly installed parts I never asked for nor was I asked if I wanted. Again there was work performed that I had not requested. I questioned the practice of installing parts not requested and John advised me that's how he operates and I could go elsewhere if unhappy with his policy. I requested some original parts be re-installed. The re-installation saved me money on parts I had not requested nor authorized. Additionally, the original noise which led to my request for inspection disappeared. I can only conclude that the replaced parts were fine to begin with. When questioned on why one particular part was replaced, John said the original was "dirty".

John verified my suspicion the wheel rim was damaged whereas the place that fixed the first spoke just replaced it and nothing else. So I had him go ahead and replace the rim and tune up the bike along with doing a tuneup on my MTB. Very fast and thorough service. Will definitely use him again when i need work done.

Being new to the area, I brought my bike to John and as he was fairly busy, he couldn't make any promises as to when it would be done, perhaps a few days. The following afternoon it was completed, a great job, good price and he cleaned the bike, thinking he put new tires on. Great service. Recommend fully.
