The barclay is in a great location, Robson st has lots of great boutiques and lots of restaurants/ cafes. However, the building is very run down. The lobby has furniture that you are not allowed to sit on, no elevator, dirty walls. Our room had a very strong smell that was unpleasant to say the least, we had to leave our window open for a couple hours every day we were there. Furniture in the room was covered in dust. Mattress and pillows were terrible. Sink didn’t drain properly, shower had very poor water pressure. No amenities, not even a coffee pot. For the price we paid, I arrived knowing it wouldn’t be the best hotel, but I didn’t think it would be that poor. This is more like a hostel, and they charge more than they should.

Rooms in 1st floor are noisy and smelly, there is an arcade business in basement, so during the weekend there is a lot of noise until 2 am, there is no elevator and the wooden stair is noisy as well in the rooms beside it. We asked for a change of room and it never happens, so service wasn't good, may be the rooms in 2nd and 3rd floor are not so noisy. Location is excellent is near to many attractions.

My partner and I spent 5 nights here and for the price it was very good. The room was clean, very big and the staff was okay. The best thing about the hotel is the location; it's in the middle of Robson street so there are plenty of places to go out and have a drink or a meal.

The room was TINY, and with no view. No parking available on site. Front desk said they were all sold out of parking...20 min into check in time. Had to park two and a half blocks away. Older man working front desk needs to find a new profession, NOT in customer service! Room smelled musky. For the price we paid, would have been nice to have a better experience. Will not be back !

Price is right for what we got. We stayed in Vancouver for 3 days and 2 nights. Very strategic location, there are lots of shops and restaurants around. Be aware that this building does not have any elevators. There is no microwave or free bottled water. Room and bathroom is clean, can't complain. However, one bad point is that their AC is kinda noisy and I cannot consider it as a "white noise". Nevertheless, we are so tired from a walking so we still had a good sleep. Staff are nice too.

The location is great. Next to a bus stop, 10 minute walk from the sky train and close to many restaurants. The hotel itself is not very clean. You can hear people from other rooms. I can't complain about any issues, but I wanted the best experience I've ever had.

Stairs everywhere and no ramps/elevator, beware of you have very heavy luggage. Staff is alright, they almost didn't let me keep my luggage in storage overnight for some reason and the hot water can take awhile to heat up at night. However the location is great and even though the rooms look a little dated they're clean and tidy. The place is a great bargain considering the price of hotels in the area.

The price is decent for what I got - decent room with a nice bathroom. The Location is perfect. The hotel is close to all amenities you might need, and plenty of different restaurants everywhere! The beaches and parks are close enough so staying at this hotel is great for visiting many places in a short amount of time. The building is fairly old, and Barclay has maintained its antique decor, which gives it a unique character. However, I did find that the smell of antiquity came with it. The hotel overall feels anachronistic with its lack of accessibility, having no elevators ? present. I found that my room didn’t muffle outside noise very well. I had trouble sleeping on a Friday night because I would wake up to doors slamming as neighbouring guests entered their rooms. Overall, I would recommend this place for the location and the price. The hotel lives by its 2-star rating.
