About A Sewing Sensation Inc

Back in November of 1993, the first A Sewing Sensation opened its doors in North West Calgary. We soon opened a second location, and our South Store had a major expansion in 2000, making room for even more fabric and classes. From the beginning, our stores have been locally owned and operated by those who love sewing themselves, so we understand the care and passion behind each of our customers needs. In 2018 we celebrated 25 years of business, and we thank all of our customers for making this milestone possible! We are proud to continue to offer the best products and services to all the sewers, quilters, and creators in the Calgary Area and beyond. We look forward to the next 25 years together!

I had some problems with my machine last summer as I was trying to hem my daughter's grad dress. The staff were amazing and so helpful. A male staff person helped me fix my surger on the spot as I was really frazzled. Before my visit I had another serviceman, who had a mobile repair shop, come to repair my surger and he really didn't do anything plus charged me a fortune. I would go to Sewing Sensation any time for sewing machine or surger repair or maintenance.

Best fabrics in the city hands down! For a staff that is under tremendous working conditions right now, filling the need in the marketplace, they are doing a fantastic job. Keep up the great work you guys, it's very much appreciated by us all. <3

The fabric selection is incredible, but the customer service is terrible. I had a sales lady keep calling and badgering me to buy a machine after I visited the store. The ladies at the cutting table are extremely unprofessional and not eager to help at all. The staff were eating their lunches at the cutting table, including a peanut butter sandwich! The fabric is lovely, but too much considering the level of service. It took just over 20 minutes for them to cut 10 small cuts of fabric. How it takes 2 minutes to cut 1/4m of fabric and write down the price is beyond me. Please reign in your staff and cut out the staff drama - your customers don't need it!

I frequently go to this store and find something I need to have! lol I was there in September just before the big show at Spruce Meadows. The lady that offered to cut my fabric was eating a sweet (square) and sat it down on the table and proceeded to lick her fingers clean before touching my fabric . . . . gross!!! I did mention it to the supervisor, however, when I was there recently, I saw a different lady eating on the floor. I feel this is very unprofessional.

Purchased a sewing machine during the Pandemic and they were so helpful, we did everything over the phone while I looked at websites and they pointed out the features of each product! I was able to make an informed decision based on my needs and budget! I drive across the city to come to this store

Never again! This is well before COVID, so not a current incident. I was in Calgary for 14 days, and trying to upgrade my current solid metal machine, which ?Jan? said she was familiar with. I never touched a machine in store, Jan took all my samples and ran them through the machines, straight stitch only. Told me the one i was interested in was NOT aluminum. I was not offered a free lesson or anything. Was NOT told I only had 7 days to return it (all other shops are 30 days). Get home 1st try, I knew this was a toy and completly inadequate. Yes, it can sew a 6" line, no more, backstitching mess, and pretty much a useless aluminum machine, not meant for my fabric. As I could not return it, I re-sold it for 1/2 price to a quilter and got an industrial. Quilters don't know anything about sewing other materials. Rather then selling me something useless for my needs, being honest would have meant I would shop here for notions or fabric. That ship has sailed I was madder than hell and won't deal with them ever again!

I used to love this place but it has now been 70 days and they still have my sewing machine and have not fixed it. I had to wait five weeks before I even brought it in so it has been 106 days since my sewing machine broke that I use for my business. I have lost out on thousands of dollars and when I called for updates no one cares. They just tell me they will get to it when they get to it. I think it’s pretty unreasonable for over 100 days to go by. I even bought this machine from them and it broke after 10months

There were many choices in buying a sewing machine, with the knowledgeable staff explaining the options, I settled on a Husqvarna and I’m very happy with it. The fabric selection is amazing!! And it seems they’ve always got the most up-to-date or trendy patterns out there. I would highly recommend A Sewing Sensation. ?
