Great Homey Feel! The middle-aged lady making the dumplings was super friendly and welcoming. My friend and I got the frozen dumplings and she invited us into the kitchen to show us how to cook them at home! Very tasty, and very affordable. Will definitely be back.

Pretty solid homemade dumplings. The wrappers could be a lot thinner but the Chinese napa and pork filling was good. The shop sells a selection of dumplings that you can get boiled, steamed or pan fried, served with your choice of dipping sauce. They also offer mini Shanghai pork buns, soup combos and frozen wontons, dumplings and dim sum. Prices are fair, I paid about $12 for 15 cooked dumplings. There's only one table inside the store so ordering out is your best option. Everything came nice and hot for takeout. By the time I got back home 45min later, the dumplings were still warm.

A small and unassuming restaurant in a converted house situated a bit back from the street, the Yen Fung Ding Dumpling Shoppe serves up tasty homemade dumplings in a variety of flavours and with different preparation styles. The staff, as far as I can tell, is made up of one person, a very polite and helpful lady. The dumplings are less than $20.00 across the board, and you are given a large helping of very hot dumplings, making them perfect for takeout as the seating in the restaurant is nearly nonexistent. They also sell dumplings frozen for home cooking, but I have never tried these myself. I always order the pork and cabbage dumplings with the sweet chili sauce.

Great dumplings, and a good variety of frozen dim sum options at very good prices. Very small eat in area, only 1 small table so mainly for takeout.

They cook the dumplings fresh, the pan fried have a nice light crust to them. Overall a decent dumpling, could use a little more moisture inside. The "special" dipping sauce is really good, tastes like mix of Chinese vinegar and sugar. I'll go back to try their Sheng Jian Bao, basically fried pork buns. It's a small shop, two tables outside and one inside and a giant chest freezer where you can buy dumps on the cheap, about 7 bucks for 2 frozen bags. The lady working there is super nice.

Yen Fung Ding is a little shop on the edge of Chinatown that is part-store and part-home. I've seen their frozen dumplings in a few Asian groceries in the city and have even bought a few in the past. However, I've never been inside the store, despite passing it many times over the years. I got the chance to visit recently. The inside is homey with knick-knacks everywhere. There's only one small table for 2 in the shop but patio seating next to the shop. The lady who took our order (and made the dumplings I think?) was friendly and warm. Hoping the dumplings would taste better than how we made them at home (usually, if made commercially, they're juicier and crispier), we bought the pan-fried dumplings with Napa Cabbage ($10.99) and the Shanghai Buns ($9.99). Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The pan-fried dumplings turned out soggy, drenched in oil, while the meat in the Shanghai Buns was lacking in quantity and overly seasoned. Neither items were juicy (and in my experience, they should be), with many of the dumplings coming out with broken skins. As well, one of these items came with a chicken soup that tasted like oily salt water sprinkled with green onions. In my opinion, it'd be cheaper to buy their frozen dumplings and prepare them at home. You could probably do about the same, if not better. If you want freshly-made dumplings, however, I'd recommend going somewhere else.

Don't let the outside look fool you! It's a small space with just one table by the window, good for 2-3 person to have a meal and the owner is a friendly lady from Shanghai and she makes the dumplings herself. The food is good and flavourful, despite a little oily. I had the Shanghai Soup Dumplings and the mix of chive - Chinese napa with pork fried dumplings. Both equally good and I would definitely come back for more.

My son devoured the pork shrimp and pork seafood dumplings. One of our dogs stole the lining paper afterwards because it smelled so good. We bought frozen dumpling and spring rolls for later. Happy to support small businesses during the occupation. Super nice woman at the counter.
