About Workshop Studios

We believe that art and creative spaces are vital to vibrant, healthy communities. Recognizing a lack of accessible facilities and affordable resources for artists and small business owners in Calgary, we set out to create an inclusive space to foster collaboration and enrich culture in the city. In 2017 we signed a lease in Inglewood’s historic Brass Foundry building, rolled up our sleeves, and transformed a very rough industrial bay into the plant and light filled studio space of our dreams.

We’ve seen our community blossom under this roof as we seek to empower, employ, and open doors for artists and makers of all skill levels. Currently, our 25 open-concept studios and 28 ceramic member cupboards are occupied by 62 artists representing a wide range of practices. We run up to seven pottery classes per week and regular Date Night events, hosting up to 96 students in addition to those attending private lessons and guest workshops. Behind each of these offerings is a talented, hardworking team of artists and entrepreneurs flexing diverse skill sets as instructors, managers, and techs.

Workshop Studios wholeheartedly believes that everyone deserves safe, inspiring places to work, experiment, and escape. Whoever you are, wherever you’re coming from, we hope you’ll join us as we foster mindfulness and promote sustainability through creative practice.

With it being a "date night" there was a special bar with delicious craft cocktails. If you're looking for a new experience, a creative outlet, or an enjoyable night out with a significant other; I would recommend.

I did a couple of the at home hand building courses during the beginning of the pandemic and was able to do a couple of glaze sessions a couple of weeks ago. The online classes were great because it allowed people the chance to take their time making pieces and create some stuff they may not otherwise think about during the classes. Workshop: please consider doing the online or at home clay sessions again! They were amazing! Also really handy to schedule for thoes that have little ones and need to rush and get them sorted. The glazing sessions were great too. Claire was fantastic and so helpful. She was super accommodating and even helped me with my glazing after both my sessions as my pieces weren't dry enough to finish. Overall such as great time (not to mention also very therapeutic) and look forward to booking more classes in the future.

The staff were awesome to deal with from the initial booking, throughout the event and then after arranging pick up of our finished masterpieces. The Workshop's studio space is such a bright, open, welcoming asthetic. I would highly recommend this pottery experience for a corporate event, date night, girls night, just anything! Bonus points for having a DJ and being able to drink.

The instructors were knowledgeable and extremely helpful, the DJ played great music and the wine glasses always seemed to be full (not because we weren’t enjoying it). We will be back and would highly recommend this as a date night for anyone looking for a fun, creative and unique experience.

The programs here are throughly thought out, the instructors are funny and knowledgeable. Students follow strict rules about tidying up their own space and keep clean for everyone. I'm so impressed and feeling lucky to get into the program.
