The previous house owners had never cleaned the aluminum venetian kitchen blind and the deposited grease had compromised the paint - he was able to clean it but not save the blind. To avoid embedded grease damage, you need to clean such vulnerable blinds every 2 to 3 years. He's a great guy, willing to help you out. Make sure he's in the shop if you want to drop off your blinds.

The blinds came back looking like new and he had replaced or fixed all the damaged strings. In the middle of it all he had to resize the blinds as well and did an excellent job.
